Custom map project dead?

Hello,

Unfortunately, no reaction to my posting from 18th of October 2018.

Is the app still being further developed or is the project dead?

It's an excellent app, hope to see an update soon.

Thanks for contacting me. Sorry, I may have accidentally missed your message in the fall.

I created the app partially on my 20% time at Google, and partially on my own time at home. Nowadays it is difficult to find time to work on it, with lots of things going on both at work and at home with family.

But I have some good news to all users of Custom Maps. I should be releasing a new beta version soon to Play Store. Unfortunately the first betas are not going to have really any new features, they basically update the app to be compiled against a recent Android release and the latest Google Maps API, as required by Play Store. At the same time I will drop support for very old Android versions which was necessary to make the app update feasible. In the process the UI is updated to more "Material-like" with colored title bar, and mostly white background. I'm hoping to publish the first beta version this weekend.

I have also new features planned, but let's see when I can find time to add them to the app.
