Hi folks,

i'had some troubles with eclipse+cusp so i've installed latest eclipse
version (
Version: 3.5.1Build id: M20090917-0800) and latest cusp (0.9.390) but
when i'm trying to create a new project i've got a blank error msgbox
and nothing happens. It's windows vista 32xbit and JRE 1.6.0_07. Any
idea what the problem could be?

Thx in advance

You should first try downloading this version
http://groups.google.com/group/ecusp/files

However, even with the old version, things should still work. It
sounds as if youre lisp might not be connected and so you coulnd't
create a project, this has been fixed (i think) in this version. Let
me know how things go.

Also,
http://wiki.github.com/Eyaro/ejasko.tim.lisp/getting
tells you where to put the plugin and then follow the link on using
it (please read, it tells you how to set up environment variables if
needed);

I've tried it - still no luck.

I've checked the manual and tried to setup cusp to work with external
sbcl installation: SBCL_HOME is there, path to the Lisp executable is
not a problem but what initialization file is meant?

If you are using ecusp the initialization file is not needed its exstra
stuff if you need it. If the path to your lisp excecutable is right then
the "ONLY" thing that could be the problem is the SBCL_HOME. This is
what Lisp Executable Environment contents should look like:

SBCL_HOME=/home/phil/lisp/clbuild/target/lib/sbcl/

This should be pointing to where your sbcl.core is.

My personal experience:

I use the packaged build pointed in this post:
http://groups.google.com/group/cusp-development/msg/47fad4979ad1a02c

It shows in my installation as Cusp 1.0.414
I use Eclipse 3.5.0, Ubuntu Linux.

I believe this is the last version made available by the original author.
I also believe there are improvements in the ecusp fork which is pointed by Gorsal.

Can u describe exactly whats not working? Are you getting a red error
message when you open the editor? Can you copy the error? Is cusp not
connected (you can see this cause it says cusp could not connect in
the repl). If it isn't connection, starting eclipse on the command
line and directing the output to a text file and copying here would be
a great help for debugging.

Actually, im guessing you didn't uninstall the original cusp? If you
installed via an update site, you can go to help->install new
software. Then click on what is 'aready installed?'. find cusp, or it
might be called jasko.tim.lisp, and uninstall it. Or, you can simply
delete the jasko folder in the eclipse plugins and features folder.

Ok guys, thanks to all for the help: That's what happened here:

1. I've installed cusp manually - not via update site.

2. as i sad - i couldn't create a new lisp-project because of a blank
error - no files were created.

3. I can't change to REPL view. A java.lang.NullPointerException comes
up and i see: "Cusp was unable to connect to your lisp instance" at
the bottom of the view.

I had a feeling that jasko.tim.lisp_1.0.414 patch was causing more
troubles than it was helping. So i've deleted it again. AND THERE -
IT'S WORKING! I have no idea what i did(or didn't) wrong. REPL-view
responding properly, project can be created. I use lisp site wide
installation as i did before - so actually i don't understand what
triggered cusp to finally connect to sbcl.

Anyway - many thanks to all of you.
