Alsoif I were to buy a new network interface card with RJ45 ports, how can I be sure it will work with windows server 2019? From the intel documentation, I thought that these dual NICs I already had would have worked.

Hi, I've just built kind of my dream 2008 PC and I've installed XP and Vista on it. I've gotten the XP side of things working fine, but I can't for the life of me get Windows Update to work on Vista. I've tried a few YouTube tutorials, but none seem to work, but feel free to post some of the easy answers in case I missed something.

EDIT: I tried updating my Ethernet driver off of the Microsoft Update website, and that didn't work, though the driver I downloaded was from 2011, but it seems that Intel isn't carrying any Vista drivers for any of their Ethernet products anymore. If anyone has an archive of an updated driver, that would be great.

EDIT 2: archive.org is a great website. Using some link copying I found a link for the Vista driver for this Ethernet controller, and while updating the driver still didn't fix the issue, I'll still post the link for archival purposes.

Yes , get the SHA-2 Update from Server 2008 SP2 , but that is only one part of it , since its probably against forum rules i cannot say more but you can do your research. I did get it to work though on my end.

So SIW2, you will only help new member TheRobster5555 if he creates an account at Blithering Blogspot where you are considered a guru? The world no longer needs multiple Windows Vista forums, and most of the advanced users are here at MSFN, so please decide where your loyalties lie.

I can confirm that the servers are back online, though I've installed an update rollup pack created by someone, and that seems to have gotten everything covered. The only thing that windows update found was the driver for the monitor. Thanks for all the help though!

A possible error that you might encounter is Windows Update error, code 80244019. This states that there was a problem checking for updates and that Windows could not search for new updates. This can occur when the Windows Update service fails to connect to the Windows server, so it is a Windows server problem or down to your computer system and configuration.

I just finished setting up windows deployment services and pxe on my server. I have created my deployment share and added all my drivers etc. But when i boot into Windows PE via pxe and attempt to connect to the Deployment Share, I get the error, "Invalid Credentials: The network name cannot be found." All the details i have entered are correct but it just doesn't seem to want to connect.

iam a newbie to windows server., just here to learn some concepts.am currently using dell xps 13 2016. and not able to install windows server 2016 as the usb thumb drive is NTFS and is not detected in my BIOS. please give me a way to successfully install using a FAT32 file system as my BIOS is detecting this file system

the install.wim mounts fine with DISM and the .cab files for the update have been extracted. however, when I try and inject the cab files into the image it fails stating the a newer version of the dism is required to perform the function on this image.

A lot of PCs in our business use NVIDIA pxe boot. Machines that do take such a long time to do anything over a PXE boot. Literally, an hour+ to boot the boot/boot.sdi and I've never fully completed the install on any of these.

This has seemingly NO effect on the process and it is as slow on windowsize1 as it is on windowsize64. I have never tried altering the BLOCK SIZE as this confuses me and I do not know what blocksize should be set for NVIDIA.

I'm reposting in a new thread because I've encountered a very similar error and the previous respondent never actually resolved the issue. His responses made no sense (no offence Leo). But also because my experience adds a kink.

My scenario is a Windows 2008 R2 system with 2 physical HDD (recently replaced). When I initially replaced a faulty drive from the system, the mirror failed to rebuild in "Disk Management" as the new HDD is 'Advanced Format'. 4096k sectors vs. 512b. I do not remember the specific errors then.

I resorted to cloning the surviving HDD with tools from Macrium. Following which I was able to boot using the new 'clone' and got the server up and running all data intact. It's been this way for the past week.

My problem rears it's head after I installed the second replacement drive (to meet the size and format of the first) and I attempt to mirror the System/Boot partition or 'C:\' drive if you will, from Disk 0 to Disk 1.

To answer Leo's questions from the other thread: 1. I am logged on as Administrator. 2. I would mirror at 'disk level' if I was creating a set on two additional BLANK drives in the system, but we are speaking of the System/Boot partition. 3. The disks are all dynamic, are online and are set to MBR.

Virtual Disk Service error:

The disk's extent information is corrupted.

DiskPart has referenced an object which is not up-to-date.

Refresh the object by using the RESCAN command.

If the problem persists exit DiskPart, then restart DiskPart or restart the

computer.

In the process of testing out a sandbox upgrade of a windows server 2008 R2 to 2012r2. After the first reboot, windows says getting ready but then stops "Windows could not configure one or more system components. To install windows, restart the computer and then restart the installation" > reboots and rolls back. Will add image when account is verified but here is a terrible OCR'd copy paste

We're medium sized engineering business and would like to properly license the use of Windows (XP, 7 and 10) virtual machines. We will be using VMWare Workstation for our staff and they will need access to a pool of about 20 different VMs. The idea is that a staff member will copy the VM they need off our file server and then run it locally on their laptop. The VMs are essential for us as they will help us connect to specialized and sometimes very outdated equipment that is on-site with our customers.

We already learnt that if our laptop is running Windows 10 Enterprise it can run up to 4 VMs simultaneously and still be fully licenced under the Microsoft terms of use. We will begin upgrading our laptops from Windows 10 Professional to Enterprise to cater for this.

One area of concern is how the VMs running on these laptops are activated, as in, the Windows-activation that normally happens when you first install the operating system. Activation is also required when the VM is copied to a laptop and started for the first time (it generates new hardware addresses and changes other settings, enough to trigger de-activation).

How will these copied VMs get activated? Do we need a KMS server to locally distribute product keys for this? We will be using more than 25 VMs at any one time (about 3 or 4 VMs on a laptop and there's about 20 staff) so the latter is something we can consider.

I've just downloaded Windows Server 2019 Evaluation. On the eval website it states that the product can be used for 180 days until it expires. However if I check with slmgr /dli I see that the grace period is just 10 days and the rearm count is 6, which is not the 180 days mentioned on the website....

I am trying to image devices with several partitions (most of them had Linux installed previously) and want WindowsPE to blow away all existing partitions, then create two and install Windows (Windows 10) to the second one. I have added the DiskConfiguration and ImageInstall nodes to my answer file, but WindowsPE still shows the "Where do you want to install Windows" dialog.

i'm trying to perform an in-place upgrade from server 2016 (Os Build 14393.3326) to server 2019 (ISO Media label: SSS_x64FREV_EN-US_DV9). After the first reboot during the install process, the server gets stuck on the windows splash screen and the only option is to perform a cold restart. After the system restarts and after login, the system displays the following error:

I have tried everything I can think of. I also made sure there is plenty of disk space on C:, and there is no third party anti-virus software installed. The windows setup media is mounted and connected at all times on the VM, even during reboots.
