1. Groundwork was laid for supporting that the risk due to the
pipeline is very low. SJHHS will stay open since the risk is of an
acceptable level. The phd consulatant expressed that worst case, only
approx. 10,000 gallons could be released in the event of a pipeline
breach, and there was no way it could reach the school. There was no
discussion about whether CUSD would still select that site, with the
public knowing what they now know.
2. Several pro-CUSD administration advocates spoke of: the hostile
take-over of CUSD by the Recall group, the insidious Education
Alliance ties, the waste of the $700,000 for the Recall election, the
puppet reform Trustees, that the reorm Trustees shirked their
responsibility by leaving the last meeting (regardless of their
concerns that the Brown Act was being violated), and the pending
firing of Carter and replacement by someone affiliated with the
Recall. Of course, none of these allegations were based on anything
of substance.
3. Draper took the opportunity to express that she took the time to
fiill out the PTA questionaire, which had very benign questions, such
as whether they support vouchers or not. Draper expressed she is
against vouchers.
4. Draper pandered to classified employees, expressing she wanted to
hire them all back, if there was any way she could.
5. Benecke tried to put forth a motion that all the Trustees forego
their stipend, but was informed by legal counsel that she could not do
that since it was not on the agenda.
6. Bryson requested of Carter to provide a break-down of all the
millions of dollars being spent on consultants by CUSD, to possibly re-
direct those funds to hire classified employees back.
7. No reprieve was given for RIFed classified employees.
8. No reprieve was given for RIFed psychologists.
9. Carter expressed that the budget next year will be worse than this
year, and California is the 49th on its way to the 50th worst state in
the union for funding education.
