to Curvy Girls (of Long Island) Scoliosis Support Group
Hey everyone, day two in rehab and I thought I should share some
information I learned today.
*If you have muscle spasms, this will explain it all!
The muscles in our bodies are simpalar to a puzzle. All the pieces are
connected to one another so the picture stays in perfect condition.
However, because we have scoliosis, our pieces don't fit quiet right.
All muscles are connected to the spine that link to our rib cages.
When our curves pull towards one side more than another, those muscles
become shorter and much weaker. Due to that lack of strength those
muscles are under a lot of pressure which usually causes discomfort.
Today I was able to work on shifting my body in a position that
decreased the pressure on my muscles by my large curve.
And finally, today was the first day that I was able to walk in
aligment. It felt weird...but it's a great feeling to see that when I
looked in the mirror, I was straight for the first time!
I look foward to start all over tomorrow :)
