Hi Curvy Girls,
my younger sister, 12, has scoliosis and although she tries to hide
it I know and can tell that it hurts her. She was diagnosed a few
years ago, at age 8. I remember being extremely worried for her,
crying in the bathroom at our friends house when she sang a sad song
during karaoke. I still am. She walks with a hand on her affected hip,
and she tells my mom that she feels how different it is when she takes
a step. One foot has to go further. She can't sit up straight; one
shoulder goes lower than the other. I had to tell our band teacher
that so when she marches, our instructor doesn't say anything. I care
so much about my sister and I hate this for her.

This hurts me. I hate seeing my sister like this and I would do
anything to have it be me in her place. She did nothing to deserve
this; no one has. But I would do anything to have a support group here
in Oregon, just in case it would help her.

Thanks,
Yasmeen Marie

Yasmeen, what a loving sister! The fact that you care so much for her
I'm sure has made the difference in her not feeling alone with her
struggle. That would be a wonderful thing for you to do to help her
start a group. Please email me directly so we can talk further.
