Dear Curvy Girls ~

My daughter, Sammy had surgery almost a year ago to correct her scoliosis.  She was diagnosed in May of 2009, and unfortunately there was no local group of girls Sammy could talk to before surgery or after surgery.  She and I would like to change that for girls in our state who may be recently diagnosed, preparing for surgery, or post-surgery.
Sammy and I would like to know how we may start a New Mexico Chapter of Curvy Girls.
Looking forward to hearing from youSmiley emoticon

Hi Linda, my name is Rachel. I'm from the Curvy Girls of Long Island
and I just read what you wrote and I think it's a great idea that you
and your daughter would like to start your own Curvy Girls. I'll have
Leah's mother Robin contact you and she'll speak with you about how to
start a group.
Sincerely,
Rachel:)

Hi, my name is Arianna Vecchio, I am 15 years old, and I live in Plano Texas. Every year, at school, we have a required physical for everybody in the school. In 6th grade, they told me that I had a slight case of scoliosis, and I didn't think much of it. I didn't believe that just by bending over, a school nurse could tell me that I was curving. So I moved on. Now I'm a sophomore in high school, and a real doctor told me that I might want to get x-rays ASAP and get this checked out. That was a few months ago. Just last week, I noticed that carrying a hand carrying basket in the grocery store was a little painful. I could feel myself bending over a little bit. And this past Sunday, (at a nursery that I've volunteered at for the past 4-5 years,) I couldn't stand up and hold the babies without complaining of the pain. I heard Leah's story on tv not too long ago and I was inspired. It's not something that you think could happen to you, until it does, and you're taken off guard. Thank you for giving me hope. I know now that I can get through this.
