Hi there, everyone.  I'm new to the group, so please forgive any faux-pas that I may make.

I live in Garland, Texas which is a suburb of Dallas (on the northeastern side of the city).  A few years ago my employer at the time had a yoga teacher come in and teach classes two days per week after work.  I took the classes and loved them.  The teacher was decent, but not very skilled at giving me options for poses.  I have several limitations, I'm afraid:

I am morbidly obese.
I have rheumatoid arthritis.
I have nerve damage in my knees which makes it literally impossible for me to kneel at all, not even for a few seconds.  This means that I also cannot do floor poses as I cannot get back up from them.

Yeah, a bundle of challenges, aren't I? *grin*

So, is there any help out there for me?

Hi Lys,

No faux pas here, not to worry! :)

There are definitely yoga options for you!  We're all a bundle of challenges in our own way, aren't we? :)  Have you ever tried chair yoga?  It's incredible and might be a great option.  I don't know of any teachers in your area (although someone else on the list may), but you might try reaching out to Abby Lentz of HeavyWeight Yoga (who I think may actually on this list).  She's in Austin, but she may know of teachers in your area.  Her DVDs are lovely, as is Sally Pugh's (who is also on here).  I've got the links to those DVDs here on my site.  I know that Sally shows some chair options throughout hers.

Glad you reached out!  Definitely stay in touch, and have a great day!

Warmly,
Anna
