New Community Resource Officer Denver Police District 6

Hello,

I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Terri Gessner and I am the new Community Resource Officer assigned to District 6. I’ve been with the Denver Police Department for a little over 17 years. I started in District 1 patrol and then spent 10 years working as a Detective assigned to the Child Abuse and Internet Predator Units. Last year I left my Detective position to work on our Mounted Patrol Unit which was a unique and fun opportunity! Following an injury (not related to the horses) I came to District 6 as the Community Resource Officer. My predecessor Officer Snow has retired and is off to new adventures.

 

As I was trying to learn about the community I found a giant spreadsheet listing a couple hundred Registered Neighborhood Organizations. I did my best to narrow the list down to only District 6 organizations but I apologize if I included you and you’re not part of District 6. I’d like to verify which groups are still active and if so are there monthly or yearly meetings? It would really benefit me if I could attend meetings and get to learn about any concerns or thoughts about the community from the community! Please let me know if your organizations have meetings that I could attend. Also feel free to let me know if there are specific concerns that you would like me to address at any meetings. I also would like to become involved in any community events like block parties or BBQs or anything where I can meet people and further my community involvement.
