Dear Neighbors,

Within the last two days I worked with D2 to create a safety meeting for CPN similar to the one being held for Cole this evening.  Hopefully you are able to attend one of the meetings.  Please be aware that they won't be able to answer a lot of the questions we have if they pertain to an active investigation.

Please join our District 2 officers for this one-hour informational presentation followed by a thirty-minute question and answer period, on April 30th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at Hope Communities 2543 California Street. All community members are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting. As always, questions, communication and information about trauma resources should be directed to the District 2 CRO team (hana...@denvergov.orgIsabella....@denvergov.orgmike.b...@denvergov.org) and for reporting suspicious behavior or crime that requires a police response, please call 911 or the non-emergency line at 720-913-2000.

DPD District 2’s partnership with our community is a top priority for Commander Aragon and our officers who serve your community. Realizing there are a lot of questions, fears and concerns related to the shooting that occurred on April 9th, we would like to meet with community members for an important presentation and to allow for questions after the presentation. There are many layers for the application of Neighborhood Watch awareness and education  – especially as it relates to the importance of getting to know your neighbors, empowering community members to report information to the police, and strengthening outreach and communication efforts by identifying community members who can be dedicated points of contact for their neighbors, enabling a vetted two-way communication channel, to share concerns, questions, and crime prevention messaging, especially when a tragic event occurs.  DPD District 2’s Neighborhood Watch program offers a partnership between officers and the community members they serve.  Officers promote neighborhood connectivity by encouraging neighbors to get to know one another, reporting suspicious behavior to the police, and by creating awareness through Implicit Bias education - reminding neighbors - it's the person's behavior, not the person to be mindful of when observing and reporting suspicious behavior to the Police.
