Farewell 2023, Welcome 2024!
After the difficult pandemic months, theatre revived somewhat. 2023 welcomed a grand new venue -- the Neeta Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre-- which has filled a gap in the Eastern suburbs. There are grumbles about it being too opulent and out of reach for theatre lovers, but the two smaller spaces in the complex have been made available for theatre, music and dance at affordable ticket rates. Despite commuting difficulties, the NMACC has caught on with audiences.
There was a fair amount of theatre activity, but some of the bigger production companies are still lying low. Hopefully that will change in the new year. Meanwhile, stage actors are being cast in web series, so when they come back to theatre, they attract new audiences.
