Dear Reader,
Twenty Years In A Flash
On May 26 this year, Mumbai Theatre Guide celebrates its 20th anniversary. It is the only website of its kind in the country, and a valuable resource of information on theatre. As anyone knows, theatre is not yet an industry in India, and profits, if any, are small. Like so many theatre practitioners who work for the stage not for money but for the love of the medium, it was passion that drove Bhavik Shah to establish the portal and keep it going for 20 years, without expecting anything in return but the support of the performing arts community, and offer support in return.
MTG is now the go-to platform for reviews, interviews, snippets on theatre, and has grown with the times to embrace social media and digital format to supplement and enhance the text content. Twenty years have seen an exponential growth in the city's theatre scene, with new groups and new venues coming up, and MTG is a 20-year record of it all.
A big thank you to the team that works behind the scenes, to readers for being so appreciative and encouraging. We would like to hear from the theatre community and readers what more they would like to see on the portal. Feel free to contact us with suggestions, ideas and criticism too.
It would not be immodest to pat ourselves on the back for this milestone. We hope to keep evolving over the coming years, and celebrating theatre... always.
"Theatre demands different muscles and different aspects of one's personality."
