Bismillahi al-Rahmani al-Rahim, wa bihi nasti'een, wa sallal-lahu alaa Muhammad wa aali al-tayyibeen al-Tahireen al Maasoomeen. Allahumma salli ala Muhammadin wa aali Muhammad.
One of the most beautiful sayings of Imam Ar-Rida, alayhi salam, is on optimism, which in Arabic we say Husn udh-dhun, when a person is optimistic with regard to somebody, he is muhsin udh-dhun - one who does Husn udh-dhan.
With regard to Allah how should we be? This is what Imam is trying to tell us and teach us. He is reported to have said: "Ahsin adh-dhan billah, fa inna man hassana dhunna hu billah, Kaana Allah inda dhundihi", it is a very powerful statement. Listeners, if you come to understand the depth of this statement, your whole life will change. We are told here, have a good opinion of Allah. That means think well about Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala don't jump into conclusions.
Sometimes you find that let's say a person gets sick, you start complaining, "Oh Allah it is because You made him sick". Don't do that. Think properly. Sometimes you get hurt. Sometimes you get a loss. These losses and this getting hurt and all these problems is sometimes very good for you. Sometimes it's because what you have done to yourself. But don't just say that, "Oh Allah why did you make me sick? Why did you make my mother sick", for example? Why did you make this person die and so on. Whatever Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala is doing for us, it is the best. Obviously, this is important to know that whatever happens is by His permission, because the moment we say that no, this act was done independently, that is impossible. And that's why we also say, "La hawla wala quwwata ila billah al-aliyu al-adheem". That means every action that we do is by Allah's permission.
But Allah has made a system that you can choose between right and wrong. So if you choose right, Allah will help you, help you to do right. If you choose wrong, Allah will help you to do wrong. But if for example Allah blocks you in the wrong, that means you know you are forced to do right. And that is not according to the wisdom of Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala. So Allah's wisdom requires us to choose whatever we want, but by Allah's permission. So when we talk about Husn udh-dhan, it is a very beautiful subject and it involves a lot of things that happen to us.
Imam Ar-Rida alayhi salam, in this beautiful statement, says, "Have a good opinion of Allah for whosoever has a good opinion of Allah, He will treat him in the same way - "Ahsin adh-dhan billah, fa inna man hassana dhunna hu billah, Kaana Allah inda dhundihi". For example, if a person thinks alaways postive about Allah, let us say sometimes when you go out for a journey, Shaytan comes. Actually, Shaytan's job is to make you fearful. When you want to go, for example, from one place to another, he makes you fear that perhaps this will happen, maybe the plane will crash, maybe, for example, something will happen to your house and so on. So he makes you confused and frightened. We are told, "Ahsin adh-dhan billah" . Who has the control? The ultimate control is with Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala.
So have good opinion about Him, know that Allah will rectify and make everything properly, everything smooth, and you will find that actually Allah will be with your opinion of Him. This is something extremely important. InshaA llah, we'll discuss about it in the next session. We come to the end of the program.
Wal-Hamdulillahi Rabbil alameen wa sallal-lahu alaa Muhammad wa aali al-tayyibeen al-Tahireen al Maasoomeen.
Bismillah, al-Rahman, al-Rahim. Al-hamdulillah Rabbi 'l-alameen, wa sallal-lahu alaa Muhammad wa aali at-tayyibin at-tahirin al-m'asoomin.
Ragionate correttamente.
A volte ti fai male.

Thinking well of Allah is a fundamental aspect of our worship. How can we worship Him the way He deserves to be worshipped when we are not aware of His Attributes or when we think that He is akin to the people around us?
In order to avoid all these negative thoughts, we need to study and know the Attributes of Allah. Allah is nothing like any of His creation. He is free of defect and deficiencies. His Promise is always true and He never forgets. Even the tiniest of our deeds does not escape His Attention. He is never too busy to ignore us. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him, nor sleep. He always remembers us no matter how many times we forget Him. We need to firmly believe that Allah answers our duas, forgives us and that He is enough for us. Count all your Blessings and ponder over your past, recounting all the moments that Allah never let you down.
Husn udh-dhann billah also refers to believing that Allah always keeps His word and will grant us all that He promises. For instance, if He Promises ease with every hardship, then indeed we will have that ease. If Allah Promises us increase in our sustenance if we spend in His way, then we must have firm belief in that too.
This teaches us to sincerely repent and seek forgiveness from Allah with the hope that He will accept our repentance and forgive us. If we did not have this certainty in our hearts, then we will never seek forgiveness and perhaps will keep on sinning. Not expecting Allah to Forgive us or Grant us what we ask him is despairing of His Mercy and not believing in His Word.
The Prophets and Messengers of Allah had pinned all their hopes onto Allah, most especially when all odds were stacked against them. The fire was cooled for Prophet Ibrahim, Prophet Yunus came out of the belly of a fish and Prophet Zakariya was blessed with a child even though he was old and his wife barren. Why? Because they knew that Allah would respond to their pleas and get them out of every situation no matter how impossible they seemed.
Having a positive outlook is the most important thing to bring ease in life especially when everything around us seems unbearable. It is the good belief that Allah is the Most Powerful, the Giver, our Savior & our Provider which will stop us from fearing people, and fear Allah instead. It will help us be consistent in our worship and teach us to ask from Allah alone rather than tiring ourselves in struggling to gaining acceptance from people. It frees us from the need of other human beings, and liberates us from following shaytaan and all those who follow him.
