Important message for parents of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders...

If your child has not turned in a signed Permission Slip, s/he must do so by Thurs a.m. - we are still missing forms for many 3rd graders, as well as a handful of 4th and 5th graders. Please down the attached form now, sign it & have your child return it to their teacher ASAP.

Volunteers Needed!
Did you know it takes approx 20 volunteers per grade for the 7 events to run smoothly? We need more volunteers on Thursday for all grades, but especially 3rd. If you can help, please contact Stephanie Castaneda ASAP at steph_c...@yahoo.com

Thanks to those of you who've already turned in a signed permission slip/ volunteer form. We hope you'll come out to watch and cheer on your son or daughter!

I've pasted below a description of Jr. Olympics and the schedule of events, for easy reference.

2011 Junior Olympics
Thursday & Friday, June 2nd & 3rd

Each year, Curie’s 3rd, 4th and 5th graders participate in Jr. Olympics.  In this competitive event, kids learn teamwork, sportsmanship, the value of competition and physical fitness all in a safe, encouraging environment.  There are 7 events: Broad Jump; Basketball Shoot; Softball Toss; Soccer Kick; 60 Yard Dash; 440 Long Distance Run; Obstacle Course.  Students will also participate in a four-person team relay race on Friday.  Awards and ribbons will be presented in classrooms on Monday, June 6th and results posted on the bulletin boards near the lunch arbor.

This event is heavily dependent on Volunteers!  WE NEED YOU!!!  Please come out and help if you can. It is a really fun event that the kids love to participate in and having you there makes it even more fun for them.  The grand finale on Friday is a ‘Parents vs. Teachers vs. 5th Graders’ relay race – always a crowd favorite.  So, grab your running shoes and come join the fun!

Please sign and return the permission slip & volunteer form (attached) ASAP to your child’s teacher.

Your child will not be able to participate without a signed permission slip.

If you are volunteering, please mark your calendar and show up during your scheduled time on the sand lot in the back of the school.  We will not be making reminder calls so please don’t forget to show up!!!
