I'm really excited about our guest for the WAR room in 2 days! I met Cynthia while traveling in Germany this summer and hearing her story of healing from trauma. Her story is really compelling. She's still in Germany, so she's agreed to stay up until 3:30 am to share it with us!
Here's Cynthia's description of her healing journey in her own words:
"For the past seven years, I’ve been on a psychedelic healing journey, facing and transforming deep traumas, such as sexual abuse, a suicide attempt, severe depression, binge eating disorder, and domestic violence. In the summer of 2023, after experiencing profound mental healing, I realized the next step was to release the trauma held in my body. At nearly 300 pounds, I decided to undergo a gastric sleeve procedure in Turkey in January 2024. I didn’t know what to expect as my body began to heal, but a few months later, in March, I was hit with what felt like an atomic bomb of a trigger, something that exposed the full force of my shadow, what Carl Jung described as the shadow self. I was stunned by the depth of rage stored within me. As I began acknowledging this shadow, I also came to understand my antisocial tendencies and their roots in pain. Throughout that year, I revisited memories of sexual abuse by multiple men and felt the raw anger I had suppressed since childhood, particularly the rage of my 11-year-old self, who finally recognized that what happened was not okay. Through this process, I began to understand where my rage came from and, surprisingly, to feel compassion for my primary abuser. Now, I’m still exploring and integrating this rage, uncovering how it connects to the anger I’ve held toward my father as well. Alongside my personal healing, I’m pursuing a master’s degree in psychology and developing a psychedelic healing method that transforms the process of healing into a game, one centered on exploring and befriending the darker aspects of ourselves. I’m currently testing this method with 16 participants as part of my research."
I hope you will join us Tuesday night as we hear Cynthia's description of her lived-experience!
