well written article, very true! In fact, Brahmins have historically been advisers to Kings/ ruling class/ general populace in India - unlike the Church /Caliphs in the west/ME who have fought for political power and wealth. From the most ancient times the duty of Brahmin has been that of a seeker and teacher - nothing more than that. Lot of their wealth/land came in the form of charity by the affluent/ ruling class - not from purchase or acquisitions.
Also, another truth blatantly ignored by these ppl is the fact that "knowledge" and Vedas have had masters from many castes other than Brahmins too. E.g. the Chakyars, Nairs from Kerala, Kayasthas from North, many other non-brahmin castes from Bihar/MP/Bengal region, etc. For thousands of years these clans, who are non-brahmins, have been actively contributing to theses and works based on the study of Vedas and Vedanta. A lot of women have also been applauded as learned in the ancient texts E.g. Gargi, Maitreyi, Ubhaya Bharati, etc. who have been hailed as great scholars in their own time and even now.
So, this allegation of Brahmins preventing other castes or women from learning sacred texts is a total falsehood created by leftists as mentioned in this article. One simple thing we can see is, today we see knowledge having been opened up to all - how many great scholars have come up from other castes and women? very few right? Why not now??? :-)
