I guess that several of us are having to pull together our end-of-year reports, and I wanted to see how some other members of this group working in academic settings are accounting for their work. Downloads and Google Analytics help to provide some perspective, but what about our work as editors of student research and authors of our own research published via Curatescape/Omeka?

How have some of you decided to describe your editorial roles in working with graduate and undergraduate students to transfer their research work into Curatescape content?
While many of us may recognize such efforts as digital scholarship (including my chair), I understand that most administrators probably do not share this belief.

Thanks,

Michael

Michael,

Mark Tebeau and I have spent considerable time on this very issue, and we're happy to share the linked doc we created as we began to try to get our university to allocate real, measurable value to our work. Note that we haven't fleshed out the Curatescape portion of this document but will soon. Feel free to borrow ideas, but if you want to share with anyone outside our Curatescape group, please confer with us first. I don't think there's anything too private here, but we should still discuss first.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for sharing this document within the group. This will help considerably in attempting to describe what digital work entails.

Best wishes,

Michael

For anyone wondering how to setup analytics on your site, you will find this in theme settings, along with a number of other options. Visit your dashboard and click on Settings >> Themes >> Configure (blue button) or go to /admin/themes/config?name=MobileHistorical

You can gather useful info from both Google Analytics and AddThis. If you haven't already, you'll need to create an account for each of those services and enter the account ID on your project site.
