Eli (and All),
Here are some links to instructional materials I've used with students.  These are course-specific but may generate something of use beyond my particular courses.

Content creation guide for students in an upper-level/graduate course:

A slightly different iteration of the above for another course:

Project topic list for students:

App site draft on content development workspace for students (Wordpress multiuser blog)
+ finished product on Cleveland Historical (note that in this case there's not much different between the two):

I'm happy to answer questions about any aspect of directing students in app site development.

Best,
Mark

This is super helpful, Mark! Thanks for sharing. It may be helpful for future Curatescape project teams or managers to receive a set of generic course guidelines that they can adapt or build on. For contribtutor guidelines, I'm glad to contribute to the github wiki but some of the writing advice may be unhelpful in that forum. A few other things that we've had to develop for our project management include:
  • A spreadsheet for tracking story ideas from draft to publication
  • A spreadsheet for tracking images and other materials from research to publication
Are other Curatescape projects using a similar process? I think samples of those documents may be another helpful resource for new projects.

Eli
