Acrobat XI standard on windows 10 crashes after 10-15 seconds. Tried may fixes found online and nothing has worked so far. This is a corporate ouned license and they can't figure it out. Their fix is to use Nitro, which doesn't work as well as adobe for my needs. Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks.

When I originally posted, I was running 11.0.23 and experienced the crash after several seconds. I uninstalled Adobe Standard XI, several times, trying all different fix suggestions found on the internet and nothing worked. After the last reinstall, same issue with 11.0.0. I finally got the laptop to upgrade to 11.0.23 (the links above did not work). I am happy to say, the problem has been corrected. Thanks for everyones help.

What is the version of the Adobe Acrobat XI you are using? To check the version of the application. Go to Help > About Adobe Acrobat. The last update for Acrobat XI was released on 14th Nov 2017 version 11.0.23. make sure you have the application updated. Go to Help > Check for Updates.

Adobe Acrobat XI is an old and end of support application. The security patches and updates are no longer available. For more information please refer to the help article ( -of-support-acrobat-xi-reader-xi.html)

Amal - While I understand that this is an older product - the software is only failing because of a license/system check that Adobe is performing on old software. If I disconnect from the internet - or block the url in our filters - the software continues to function without crashing. The timing of this couldn't be worse. This is an educational facility and with schools closed. I'm hoping you can read between the lines in terms of problems this causes to institutions where people are not currently allowed on site.

As nicolek447787620 stated below. I tried opening a pdf without being on line and had no problem with acrobate staying open. So what is the fix for a license/system check that Adobe is performing on old software during the initial startup.

4. Run Acrobat X Pro, now insted of crashing it will show a "new" adobe activation agreement (this is what was crashing the acrobat x pro), you can now accept it and Acrobat X Pro runs with 0 issues in 2021. (no need for any compatibly modes).

4. Run Acrobat XI , now insted of crashing it will show a "new" adobe activation agreement (this is what was crashing the acrobat x pro), you can now accept it and Acrobat XI runs with 0 issues in 2021. (no need for any compatibly modes).

Not exactly the same route, so when you install the Microsoft Compatibility Administrator, look up for the path where the download will be installed and write it down, as you need it to found the "Application Compatibility Toolkit" and follow the above instructions (From andrey1SA9) Good Luck!

I had to transfer Acrobat XI to a new machine and encountered the same crashing issue. I followed the instructions of andrey15A9 and Yessvann and eventually was successful. Several days later, the crashing started to reocurred. Now I use Reader to view pdf's and Acrobat offline to edit.

Adobe Reader 11 is a good and simple reader for PDF. Older versions of Adobe connect to the server when it starts. We have to stop it from connecting to the server. For that we have to block Adobe Reader in the inbound and outbound internet connection in the advanced settings of the firewall. So it will run properly. thank you
