Pairs Henley and Other Ramblings

Lady 'Swains and Gents,

Tonight (and also tomorrow morning) is the varsity Pairs Henley. It is a giant pairs tournament to decide who will get to race a pair at our fall races. It is generally a lot of fun to come watch. Invariably, some one generally flips, which is always a good time. Plus, there is a lot of great racing that will be happening. A lot of being successful in a pair is less about pure strength and more about finesse and steering ability. It should be a good time.

The pairs are:

1. Tobey/Wheat

2. Romero/ Sammartino

3. Porcelli/ Rhoades

4. Wolda/ Coletta

5. Gonzales/ Niehaus

We will be out there for the first couple of rounds of the bracket tonight at 4:30 PM to about 6:30 PM (weather permitting). If you are free and don't have any thing to do, come hang out and watch the varsity guys row. Feel free to bring camp chairs to sit in to watch (maybe a blanket to stay warm). We may be able to get a handful of people into the launches to watch on the water, but no promises. 

Tomorrow morning will be the same deal, but with racing starting at 6:30 AM. Bring some coffee and some donuts or something and come hang out.

Also, since we didn't get out on the water today, I hope everyone is fitting something athletic in - like a run, erg, swim, bike, etc. We are at the point in the season where taking a day off fitness wise isn't really going to cut it. We are racing against some steep competition pretty soon. Also, keep in mind our 6k tests are early next week - if it were me, I would get an erg piece (steady state or other) in every day prior to the test to make sure I was ready for it (both mentally and physically). Remember, line-ups for fall racing wil be heavily influenced by this test. If you can, today would be a great day to fit your varsity/novice buddy 10k/12k in.
