Read the Email

If you ask varsity pretty much every one of them will tell you at some point they asked me a question that was answered in an email they didn't read.  There's even a long held joke that "read the e-mail" is rule 1, 2 and 7 on this team.  I've forgotten the rules in between and after, but I'm sure they were in an email. That being said, here we go...

Practice tomorrow will be at 5:15pm to 6:45pm in Carlson.  Unless you have told our treasurer Matt Molina matthew...@colorado.edu, I'll be expecting your dues payment by Wednesday.  It's $350 cash or made out to "Friends of Colorado Crew."  I'll also need your signed contract page of the handbook I've attached.  Finally you have to fill out the Club Sports waiver here: http://registrar.colorado.edu/clubsports/members.asp

So to recap (TL;DR version) these three things must be done by Wednesday:

1. Dues paid or a plan made with Matt Molina

2. Handbook Contract Signature sheet turned in

3. Club Sports Online waiver completed

Let me one more time welcome you all to the team.  One thing I forgot to mention this morning is one simple truth. Rowing is hard.  I fully expect half of you won't be able to stick with this sport the whole year. Our average retention rate is about 50% from this point, and that does not bother me in the least.  I'm proud that so few can do what we do because that means we've separated ourselves from average.

If you find you do not like the sport I really hope you would not stick around. But if you do like this sport and are having trouble sticking with it, all you need to do is ask for help.  Your teammates, varsity buddies, and coaches are all here not only to help you succeed in rowing, but in both your college career and future. 

For those of you tough enough to do what we do and ask for help when you need it, we have ahead of us one of the most successful years in Colorado Crew's history.  That I can guarantee you.
