Prayer Update

I am vacationing with some friends at Smith Mountain Lake. Among them are John and Thea Shoop of Chester. John took the sailboat out this afternoon. We noticed later that the sail wasn't in the right position and then could see that John was no longer on the boat which was still out in the lake.

We called 911 and then took the pontoon out. They found the boat and John's hat.

Rescue teams have been searching the waters (160 feet deep in the area he went missing). Police and volunteers have been combing the shorelines. A coast guard crew will be here at 8 am to continue the search.

Please be in prayer for John (who is missing), his wife Thea, and their son Danny (who is en route to the lake).

The search continues for our friend John Shoop, who presumably drowned in Smith Mountain Lake. Please continue to lift up his family and friends in prayer.
