Some of you may enjoy cycling on Southwest 914 near Slate Branch, Oak Hill Road, and even on the Northern bypass or Southeast 914 now that it is all 4 lane and has nice new shoulders.  One of the biggest issues for road bikes is of course debris on the shoulder such as gravel and broken glass from accidents.  It would make a big difference if all of us shoulder bikers would make it a habit to call and remind the Highway Department of how many of us there are and ask them on a regular basis to please sweep the shoulders so that we can safely enjoy the roads without flats.  Just call the Kentucky Department of Highways at 606-677-4017 and ask for the Chief District Engineer.  You may have to leave a message with his secretary, but he will get it taken care of.  Especially if he is getting large numbers of requests!

Thanks!!
