We are currently inviting applications for ‘The Kitchen Studio’– a 10-day workshop that runs from 17th September–26th September 2021. Designed in particular for 18–25 year-olds, this workshop is part of MAP’s programming to help nurture and promote an interest in the world of art and culture among young adults and provide them with opportunities to learn from and create with art practitioners and fellow art enthusiasts.

I'm sharing a mailer with some more information below and hope you will circulate the same among your students and others you think might be interested!

Thanks and regards,

Mehreen Yousaf

The Kitchen Studio

An intensive workshop that looks at the kitchen beyond its textbook definition of a room where food is cooked.

Friday, 17 September - Sunday, 26 September 2021
A poster for the event which reads 'The Kitchen Studio Workshop Open Call: Brewing Stories' There are illustrations of utensils around the text like a ladel, a rolling pin and more.

This 10-day workshop has been conceptualised to explore the kitchen as a space of creative facilitation, similar to an artist’s studio – comprising the interaction between maker, materials, tools, ideas and concepts.

Hosted via Zoom and Discord, the workshop is designed to help participants learn from artists and archivists and create by engaging with various resources, exercises and an open dialogue. You’ll get to see the kitchen space and paraphernalia evolve from its culinary connotations to a conceptual studio that creates stories and experiences.

This workshop is produced in collaboration with Curating for Culture and specially curated for 18-25 year olds.

Submit your application and we’ll email you a wallpaper with artwork from the MAP collection!

All MAP online events have Indian Sign Language interpretation or the option to avail ISL services.
