Subject: [Notes] Karl Marx's GOD OF MONEY illustrated by MaGuMa
To:
no...@lists.maraa.inHello everyone,
Marx was voted as the world's most important philosopher in a 2005 BBC poll. Not surprising given that the top one percent control most of the wealth - in India and in the world. People are tired of being told that things are getting better when they are getting worse. Marx was the first to point out that dominant groups tend to exert their influence over others in order to maintain their dominance. He didn't get everything right. For example he could not see the rise of nationalism coming and he underestimated the role of culture but that doesn't mean he should be discarded. It only means his work should be reappraised critically. His ideas about philosophy towards change not interpretation, remains a crucial one. How to go about it remains a task we need to chart out collectively. In order to do so we need to better understand Marx not bury him deeper.
As one small part of this effort, we are happy to host the launch of book, GOD OF MONEY in collaboration with Tara Books and Goobes Book Republic.
