Religious Trauma, Maharishi Vidya Mandir,  Warren Jeffs, FLDS

Are you navigating fear, shame, and isolation in the aftermath of harmful experiences in religion? Are you so used to suppressing your own needs and emotions that you don't know how to express them anymore?

For God's Sake: Recovering from Religious Trauma offers language to help you understand what you've experienced, process your hurt and anger, and start healing on your own terms. You'll learn how to turn your self-judgment into curiosity, and your shame into self-compassion. Each chapter includes multiple inventories, checklists, and personal reflection prompts to help you connect more deeply with yourself and gain insight into how religious trauma has impacted you.

Grounded in research and counseling experience, Miller takes a religiously neutral approach to healing. She knows from experience that many religious trauma survivors are understandably anxious about perceived hidden agendas, particularly those tied to religion and spirituality. So whether you're looking to leave religion completely or seek a new, healthier relationship with your faith, For God's Sake can help you recover and explore who you are beyond religious trauma.

"Serious allegations have been levelled against a senior teacher of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Silchar, with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) directing authorities to conduct an inquiry into the matter. A school that runs on Vedic values and the principles of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi allegedly harbours a teacher who behaves inappropriately with students.

Former students of the school have told Barak Bulletin anonymously that the manner of harassment by this teacher ranges from physical to mental and even somewhat sexual. The matter became serious when a student of the 2023 batch killed himself, allegedly because of harassment by this teacher, a reference he used multiple times to threaten students, as per the report.
An enquiry into the matter has been initiated by the Cachar District Administration and the Human Rights Commission at the school."

People: Where Are Warren Jeffs’ 80 Wives Now? Inside Their Lives Nearly Two Decades After the Cult Leader's Imprisonment
"...Warren had over 80 wives in what he called "spiritual" marriages. Many of his former wives have spoken out against the convict, including Briell Decker, who was his 65th wife.

After escaping the organization, Decker spoke to The Guardian in October 2018 about her experience marrying him at 18 years old, describing him as "creepy."

“When Warren was around, I’d go into hiding,” she said. “If I didn’t, I’d have to be part of the temple stuff that he was doing," elaborating that meant sex acts.

However, one of Warren's wives continues to defend his innocence. Naomie Jeffs — who was considered his "favorite" wife — was first married to Warren's father when she was 18 and he was 83, becoming his 17th wife, according to Oxygen. A month after Rulon's death in 2002 at age 92, Naomie married Warren.

She later became his scribe, taking notes during his ceremonies and sermons, as well as from recordings of his day-to-day activities."
