Nicole Daedone, who promised spiritual wellbeing through her OneTaste enterprise, received a nine-year sentence but some question if freedom of thought is being criminalized.
"Clitoral stimulation as a path to spiritual connection, mental clarity and emotional wellbeing has been practiced for millennia. After being convicted on forced labor conspiracy charges related to the practice (and getting sentenced to nine years by a Brooklyn court last week), Nicole Daedone was given the opportunity to address the court.
Known as the “The Oracle” of OneTaste, a trademarked orgasmic meditation enterprise that extolled the benefits of hours of arousal, Daedone, 57, swiveled her chair toward the public gallery, smiled broadly, and said: “No.”
Outside the court, supporters described Daedone’s conviction as wrong and dangerous. Some said the seven former adherents of OneTaste, co-founded by Daedone in 2005, who testified against her at trial did not account for hundreds more who said they were indeed satisfied.
Anjuli Ayer, the current CEO of OneTaste, called it “a terrifying day for freedom. If persuasion can be a crime and consent doesn’t matter, then no one is safe.” Rori Montali, a wellness practitioner and intimacy influencer, argued that orgasmic meditation had helped her recover from trauma."
"The second son of Chizuo Matsumoto, former leader of the now-defunct Aum Shinrikyo doomsday cult, filed a lawsuit against the government to seek damages for an attempted inspection of his home.
Matsumoto's 32-year-old son, who went by the name Shoko Asahara and was executed in 2018, also stated in his submission to the Tokyo District Court, "I do not believe in so-called Aum Shinrikyo."
"I have never been a member of Aleph," he declared, denying that he belongs to Aum's major successor group.
According to court records and other materials, the Public Security Intelligence Agency attempted to inspect the Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture apartment where the son and his 62-year-old mother lived, on March 26, 2025, under the law controlling organizations that committed indiscriminate mass murder. The widow of Matsumoto is said to have rejected the inspection.
The Saitama prefectural police on April 14 the same year searched the apartment and elsewhere on suspicion of violating the law by rejecting the inspection, after the agency filed a criminal complaint with the police.
Soon after 1 a.m. the next day, agency staff communicated with the son in front of his home when he returned after observing a search at another location.
As the staff members tried to persuade him to accept an agency inspection, the son asked whether his refusal would constitute the crime of rejecting an inspection. He also said, "I don't have enough information to decide," and "I'll consult with a lawyer," before he left the scene.
This is the first time that details of his remarks and behavior related to the agency's inspection attempt have come to light."
