We have a couple of imminent projects that need heavy playtesting.
LEGION
"A roleplaying game of war and dark wizardry." I'm not sure exactly
what form this will take -- maybe a standalone game if Greg is cool
with that, or maybe a Reign supplement. It's swords and sorcery, like
Reign, but its focus is on war stories of the grunts on the ground
rather than leadership of organizations and kingdoms, and it has rules
that are pretty heavily tweaked in a lot of places. If I have any
fellow fans of the Black Company out there, well, at this stage the
serial numbers are only halfway filed off.
Its playtestable parts are being rolled out in stages. It has two
versions that need testing right now: One version has a somewhat
simplified Skill structure and a more flexible approach to action
declarations. The other version has a new combat system altogether
that's a radical change from the ORE standard. That definitely needs
testing and testing hard.
(Neither version is the same as the Fluid Combat System that Greg did
in one of the Reign supplements. If you're asking, "What, we need
another combat hack??", well, there you go. We love fiddling with
things.)
Legion will also have a new magic system that starts with Reign and
then adapts it really thoroughly to this project's specific genre. It
will also have some new "Loyalties" rules that kind of supplement
Passions and affect characters' noncombat interactions with NPCs. I
want to get feedback on the main rules before I start on those things,
though.

MONSTERS AND OTHER CHILDISH THINGS: BASICALLY MONSTROUS EDITION
This is an alternate rules set for Monsters that's meant to make the
game even more accessible to complete newbies. It will be ready for
playtesting at large as soon as Ben says so. Rules-wise it's pretty
distinct from standard Monsters, taking a step back from the crunchy
details. It will likewise need some careful loving attention to suss
out any parts that might be busted.

ALSO, as an update on other things, some of which will also be
playtestable soon . . .
* The reprinted Grim War and The Kerberos Club have reached the IPR
warehouse at last and should be shipping right now. Future releases
will not be this much of a clusterfilk.
* I'm working on the WT2 hardback for its Cubicle 7 release and Delta
Green: Targets of Opportunity for a Pagan Publishing release.
* Dennis is working on what will eventually be the Second Edition of
Godlike, and a Wild Talents sourcebook set in a Talent prison, and
another two or three things that I can't talk about in public yet.
* Greg's working on Progenitor for Wild Talents.
* Allan Goodall is working on Black Devils Brigade and Operation
Torch, both for Godlike.
* Benjamin Baugh is putting the last coat of paint on Bigger Bads for
Monsters and Other Childish Things. It'll be ransomable very soon.
* I believe Ben is also working on Aeon Mall for Wild Talents.
* Ross Payton is working on Road Trip for Monsters and Other Childish Things.
* The Reign Enchiridion likewise will be ransomable very soon.
* The ransoms will be for a "ransom only" edition of the book that has
its own cover art. Then we'll release a wider edition with a different
cover for the masses. Unless the ransom fails, in which case you get
just the ebook edition with no art and we all hang out heads in
glumness for a while.
That's it for now. Please sign up to help out with Legion, and watch
this space for Basic Monsters. Thanks!

Subject: [ORE] Re: Playtest opportunities
It's separate from the Reign setting. Most of it could be used with
the Reign setting, of course, but magic is going to be pretty
different.

No. Same basic rules engine, and it shares a military focus, but the
supernatural stuff is totally different.
