Hey guys,

We here at ArcDream are considering the possibility of releasing the NEMESIS rules (expanded, with some kick ass artwork) in a hardcover edition. Do you think NEMESIS would be viable as a ransom product?

Thoughts, concerns, suggestions? Spread the news around and post here to let me know what you think.

Any chance of an extended Mythos section blessed with the Arc Dreams

snag it and hit it all night long!

Oh yes, especially if it was *revised* and expanded. The number of
skills could probably use some trimming. Some thoughts on converting
BRP scenarios would be nice, too.

The extra stuff would be the make or break. Nemesis is basically just the suggestion of a game right now. It has some monster rules, the san rules, and a skill system....that's about it. No real options for kitting out PC's, or more developed things that would make it idea for say Delta Green other than just being ORE.

Maybe some sort of one-roll monster creation and some agency/scooby
gang creation rules (give suggestions for using Reign's company rules
kinda like Grim war did). Scratch expanding the Mythos much since you
are making it general horror. Spruce up the skill selection with maybe
a re-imaging of the broad skills from Kerebos Club. Some sort of
tome/spellbook one-rolls and a general expanded magic system. I think
that would all help to cover modern horror well enough, letting you
run the gamut from Delta Green to Friday 13th. Some suggestions for
toning down lethality and you'd have even do comedic horror like
Universal Monsters/Blood Brothers of Cthulhu or the lighter side like
Buffy. I've been looking for a good modern horror generic game for a
while. I'm tired of the systems from Dark Conspiracy, Unisystem and
Chill, this could help fill the void they left behind. Eventually, I'd
like to see how Arc would handle something like Hong Kong Theater, but
that's a whole other line of discussion.

Hell, I'm a sucker for your products (I have everything except for the
PDF only releases), so I'll probably buy it anyway. I've taken part in
every Kickstart so far. I just like to push for more content when I
get asked :)

IMHO that would be an excellent addition - nothing distinguishes the truly obsessed cultist than their very own sanity-corroding esoteric path.  And there's plenty of room for paths to make Investigators better at finding the secret truths that will ultimately doom them.

Would the rules be being updated with polish from some of the more
recent games?
Also, is there any interest in including a sample campaign, and if so,
would you be interested in submissions? *Subtle, yet suggestive,
eyebrow waggling.*

I would buy it!

I would make the following suggestions...

-use the make your own skill rules from Kerberos Club.

-Expand on the magic system/make a magic system.

-Delink it from Lovecraft/Mythos/Call of Cthulhu; either dive into the
dark recesses of your brain and come up with a horror setting, or,
better yet, make it more or less a generic-but-distinctive horror game
like Wild Talents is for supers or Reign is for fantasy. Or, well,
both- generic system+basic setting (as in Reign or Wild Talents).

I kind of already have two good systems to play Call of Cthulhu (BRP
and GUMSHOE), but I don't have a good system to play, say, Kult, or to
homebrew my own horror game. I use ORE when I want to do something I
custom-tailored to my own specifications, so...

Echoing this. I love Nemesis and have used it to run some Delta Green
scenarios to good effect... but yes, the skill list could use some
rethink, as could some other bits and pieces.

I would *love* to have an actual book with an "up to date & revised"
version of Nemesis, instead of my current pile of crumpled printouts
and messy optional rules from here and there.

100% this. An urban fantasy / unknowable horror game would be great.

ORE is great for gritty. I can run cinematic urban fantasy using
Unisystem but ORE would be my preference for grimdark.

Also: you could use it for urban sci-fi (Conspiracy X, Fringe / X-
Files etc).

I already said I'd buy it, but I'd buy the heck out of it if it used
Kerberos Club style skills. I'm also cool with it being somewhat
de-linked from the Mythos as long as it has guidelines for converting
BRP spells/monsters over to Nemesis. CoC/DG has all the mythos stuff I
need, so if you make it easy to turn that into ORE goodness I'll be
happy.

I think it's an interesting idea, and I'd probably buy it on
principle.

That said, I have a few specific concerns:

* For the love of Jebus, use the exceptional skill system presented in
Kerberos Club! For a game with a much more low-key, human focus,
being able to make custom skills to differentiate people is a must.
Ever since Unknown Armies converted me, I can't really abide static
skill lists.

* I'm less than enthused with the Cthulu mythos, just because it seems
overdone. Ideally, a print Nemesis would be broad enough to cover At
the Mountains of Madness, Hannibal, and Primer. :)

Otherwise, I'm on-board!

I'm all in favor of this if Dennis and Greg are. Especially if it
mixes with the skill enhancers from Reign. We may need to rename those
Expert or Specialist Training instead of Esoteric Disciplines and
Martial Paths, but same diff.

Yes. We have, ahem, other things in the works that deal with Cthulhu
in more depth. Nemesis needs to be able to handle Cthulhu but also all
the other horror things out there, such as the Dark Tower mod that I
built ages ago.

I never released the text publicly because it's not quite finished,

Put me down for a couple.;-)

I will parrot some of the above comments:
Revised/streamlined skill list
'Expert/Specialist Training'
Mini Company Rules
Sample Companies and Campaigns
"Sandbaggers, Night Stalker, X Files, Primer, Seven...STALKER!"
Cool gear; panel vans, safe houses, fast cars

This gets me pretty exited, I've run a few Nemesis campaigns.

The lovely thing about the various implementations of the ORE system
to date is that they have all contained different approaches to the
implementation of the game system. So instead of raising my voice
with the rest in the clamour to give me the best of what you have done
before, I say instead "surprise me" and give me new approaches I can
use in my various ORE games. <grin>

I wouldn't touch it. Even though it was free I had to put a lot of
effort into reading Nemesis because it was such a dry read, and
everyone else that I've referred it to as a free introduction to ORE
found the same thing, to the point that I switched to Star ORE. The
subject matter actually interests me, as I'm a big fan of Lovecraft in
particular, and Vampires and pulp radio dramas in general, but the
product itself is written in a way that completely turns me off.

For me to even consider contributing to it I'd need to see that it's
had a complete rewrite from the ground up to be a more engaging read,
as well as additional content. Also... don't rush it out like WT 2e, I
know people were waiting on it for a long time, but the index would
have taken a couple hours to fix up and make really useful, and I
think anyone would have been perfectly happy with waiting an extra
week for just that to be fixed.
