OPETKAN VANISHING II

I have always felt the the spying stealth discipline Opetkan Vanishing was a little off because out-of-place second rank Undifferentiated Occult Knacks. This obviously felt like a Counterspell ability.

While looking for a replacement second path, I ended up fiddling with the whole thing. Then I also wanted to see what I can do for the Thief God's esoteric path.

See First Year of Our REIGN, page 80, for original version of Opetkan Vanishing for comparison.

This uses Coordination + Stealth in the form of disguises.

A Stance Outside Self (One point)

With a proper disguise kit the spy must make a Coordination + Stealth roll and keep one set. Once the disguise and the spy uses a Charm or Command roll for a social interaction, he can opt to use the Coordination + Stealth set or his social roll set. If Height matches the sets combine. However, A Stance Outside Self only works to make the spy seem bland, boring, forgettable, uninspired, non-threatening and an unnoticed wallflower. People will not be able to remember any distinctive features as "the boring" just fogs their memories. If the spy tries anything which is unusual for his projected demeanour, the set vanishes.

You Cannot Lie to a Liar (Two points)

The Vanisher can add Stealth to any Charm or Command roll if he is in disguise.

Close to a Maddening Crowd (Three points)

The amount of people nearby can bump up a Coordination + Stealth roll quite impressively. For every "point" of a crowd you can raise Height by +2 or Width by +1. Can stack with A Stance Outside Self is those restrictions are adhered to.

The size of the crowd depends on what is going on and how many people there are. Check Threat 1 Followers on page 41 and assign points equal to the cost.

Crowd

Early morning market: 10 people

Weekly shopping: 20 people

Lunch: 30 people

Festival: 40 people

Drunken revelry: 50 people

Shadow Foot (Four points)

By rolling a Coordination + Stealth (disguise) set, the character creates false trails and impress upon the tracker the possibility of legitimacy which read as true trails to scrutinise rolls and the like. It takes Slow 1 to create two trails, Slow 2 to create three trails.

Mist’s Advantage (Five point)

As written except it also stacks with A Stance Outside Self (1) and Close to A Maddening Crowd (3).

FOOTPAD'S GRACE

The apostles of the Thief God are taught many tricks to sidle between people without getting caught like the wind slips between rain drops without getting wet. Some opportunists took some tricks to the Opetkan secret police for a few weeks at a lavish lifestyle.

They intentionally let some disicplines be taught so they could a) find out who was a member of the secret police and b) easier for the Cult of Greed to infiltrate the secret police.

It uses Coordination + Stealth in the same way as Opetkan Vanishing. Since three of the five ranks are the same, only the remaining two need to be learned. Bully for the Thief God's worhsippers.

Cunning cheek (Two points)

The footpad gets to add Empathy to his Coordination + Stealth Footpad's Grace rolls.

Close to a Maddening Crowd (Three points)

The amount of people nearby can bump up a Coordination + Stealth roll quite impressively. For every "point" of a crowd you can raise Height by +2 or Width by +1.

The size of the crowd depends on what is going on and how many people there are. Check Threat 1 Followers on page 41 and assign points equal to the cost.

Crowd

Early morning market: 10 people

Weekly shopping: 20 people

Lunch: 30 people

Festival: 40 people

Drunken revelry: 50 people

Note: You need to have a set first. This doesn't grant free successes.

Hoodwinking (Four points)

The Thief God's apostle can add Stealth to Scrutinise rolls to uncover deceit and deception or Scrunitise to Stealth rolls to improve deception and deceit.

Mist’s Advantage (Five point)

As written for Opetkan Vanishing except it also stacks with A Stance Outside Self (1) and Close to A Maddening Crowd (3).
