Hi All,

the next CUGOS meeting is scheduled for Wednesday and we have (at least) two talks lined up - see CUGOS February 16th 2022, 6pm - Virtual Meeting:
  • Christy Heaton will talk about the iSeaTree app - see  https://treemama.org/the-tech-treehouse/iseatree/
  • Akash Bhave will discuss the new DB2Vector tool that he and another developer built for Clockwork Micro.
He’ll give a technical discussion about the challenges involved.
Some CUGOS members have been working on / planning bringing back CUGOS meetings to in-person (physical) in the coming month.
We expect that excitement (or not so much) about this will likely be all over 'the map' in our membership, so people involved feel that it is a good idea  to collect input from our members.
Thus, all CUGOS members are invited to participate in the short (4 questions) survey via a Google Form (link below) so we can collect feed back and find out the level of interest.

To make this as pragmatic as possible here are some notes I would like to include:
In order for such an in-person meeting to happen at all some (minimum) prerequisites need to be squared away:
  • a physical location (adequate room) needs to be secured (contact has been made with some CUGOS members at UW and this process is pending)
  • we would want to find out how many people likely would show up (because if that number is 3 , aka very low - this will not make much sense)
  • interested people that would not want to join the physical meetings (or are remote anyways) can still be 'served' either by recording the meeting or streaming it online
(provided we can manage to do that technically, but we will try our best)
Depending on the feedback and outcome of the other points above next steps and a timeline for this can then be determined.
As much as I would like to add personal thoughts to this message I will better refrain from doing so in order to not make things personal or more subjective.

Hope so see many of you Wednesday

Cheers
Karsten
