An update on the Professional Panel, we are planning to move this over to Zoom to hopefully accommodate for people located outside of Seattle.

Hello,

I'm reaching out on behalf of the Society for Geography and Data Science (GeoDat) at the University of Washington. We are currently looking for guest speakers for our upcoming events this Spring and would love to have CUGOS people involved!

Professional Panel
Tuesday, Tentatively* April 30th 3:30-5:00 PM at the UW
In need of 3-4 panelist who currently work in GIS, Mapping or Spatial Data Science/Analysis, OR who have graduated with a degree in Geography and may be working in a different/related field. The panel will be an opportunity for students pursuing a career in GIS to learn different pathways into the professional world and to get advice for life-after-college.
*Final Date/Time TBD based on panelist availability.

GeoDat "Hackathon": OpenStreetMap and the use Open Source Data
Saturday, May 4th 3:30-5:00 PM at the UW
Historically, GeoDat has hosted an annual hackathon. This year we wanted to do a more workshop-style event involving a collaborative project. Our theme is open source data and we will be playing around with OSM. We are looking for a guest speaker who has used OpenStreetMap and/or has an interest in the different uses of open spatial data.

If you or one of your members are interested in being part of these events, please let me know. The events are pretty low-stakes since our club is small. Many of our members are new or still learning about the field, so any knowledge you can share is appreciated.

Feel free to pass on this message and share my email contact :)

Best,
Emma
