Alex, thanks for that, please add yourself to the list! And Landon, too!

In 2007 Aaron from CUGOS and I put in a bid for Portland, but Paul Ramsey's bid for Victoria was much better!

It's possible that CUGOS would like to participate as well, several of them are on this list...
Oh well, might as well CC them, and get the whole brouhaha going!
:-)

OK, I've created a shared doc for the Letter of Intent, including some assumptions that I have no basis for making, so please comment and correct.

I'll list myself as conference chair, but I would hope by the time this goes through that someone with more experience would want that job (*cough* Audrey *cough*).

If you want to volunteer to be on the Local Organizing Committee, please put yourself down. I've volunteered a couple of people (better check to see if you're on there!).

Past estimates are for about 1000 people.

I say go for it!

California is putting in a bid, and there's been a discusion on osgeo-discuss about a West Coast event, potentially with us and Cugos... Looka t that thread and incorporate what seems useful, maybe?

Crap! I totally missed this. Today is the last day to send a letter of intent to host FOSS4G 2014. I've been waiting for the RFP, but managed to not see it.

Would the Stumptown Folks be interested in lending their expertise to hosting the conference here?

I'd love to get it here, and I think we can whip out a letter of intent today, if there's enough tentative commitment.

Details here: http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2014_Bid_Process

California afaik is not putting in a bid, just kicking around ideas. PDX has much more coordination and experience and I would support your bid. I'd also be happy to ask some CA folks to be on your org committee if you need more people to hand jobs out to.

That is exactly my current thinking, assuming Stumptown Syndicate is interested. If not, there are resources available, such as Travel Portland to help with that sort of thing.

If anyone wants to list themselves as a member of the Local Organizing Committee, please do so tout suite. It's a low commitment affair right now - we need to get past stage 1.

(Again, the letter of intent is available here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mg42dzLcAXTaz1HOlF2WKDx_VM1WRQyOTDY9quAEyxM/edit )

previous budgets are available:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2011_Denver_Budget

they even had a page for the conference organizer!
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2011_Denver_GITA

I've been digging through here to find out how much they paid GITA...

Hey Ecotrust and Trimet!

We need your support!!!

Can any of you (Tim, Matt, Bibiana) sign up for the LOC?

GeoLoqi would be great too! Who else am I missing?

Mike Pumphrey's from OpenGeo lives here, right?

I'm all in favor of the bid. I don't have time to donate to the cause, but I'm with you in spirit at least.
