Stuck and searching for some Age of Empires 2 cheats? This page has you covered with a list of cheats, codes, Easter eggs, tips, and other secrets for Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings for PC.

In the HD Edition, entering any cheat codes will prevent the user from obtaining any achievements (except campaign-related ones) in that session. In the Definitive Edition, using cheat codes will also disable the medal earned in a singleplayer scenario, as well as any campaign-related achievements.

All of the cheat codes should work in every version of the game. Whether you're playing the original, its HD remake, or Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition, you should be able to activate any of the cheats you see in the full list below.

I play very defensively against the AI I just find it fun so I was playing britons with lots of castles and longbow men and I was struggling to keep up with JUST training lowbow men, and I checked the map there was literally 0 gold mines left and the AI was barely mining the stone and had way less farms than me, I think all combined they just had as many as me. And as for wood I had about 65-68 wood choppers and the AI had about the same amount spread around the map.

It looks like their army composition was much better then yours. They didnt had to replanish that many units compared to you. Longbowmans are pretty bad with dealing with rams. They soak up a lot of damage, while his units could kill your longbowmans. Based on your story i think you lost much more units then the AI. So you need much more resources to replanish your units.

The reason they make so many units is because their resources are literally stuck at 0 through the entire game, the only time they get more than 100 resources is to save up for and immediately purchase something.

I wish the 200 taunt to make AI cheat worked on the DE Extreme AI. I tried it on Extreme HD AI and it was complete crap compared to the DE AI. They need to add an AI Apocalypse difficulty where the AI micros 50 monks at once and dodges every arrow or add the 200 taunt to DE AI.

Ok i did a 4v4, and was defeated after like 20 minutes (Definive new AI for all). After check back, my 2 AIs both have no stone, very less resourse while in other team, there is a AI went up to near 20k resources each. How is it possible if they dont cheat on resourse? 20k in 20 mins?

Thankfully, it couldn't be easier to use Age of Empires 2 cheats. While playing, simply hit Enter to show a text box, then type in the cheat code and press Enter again to activate it. Thanks for your nice release, since the game updated recently, the fast construction seems the only one does not function properly - all buildings collapse after constructed. It would be really appreciated if you may fix this minor issue, thank you

Do you think it might be possible to add a cheat that stops the timer in the art of war campaigns? Sometimes when I use the cheats in that to try and get the gold it can break the game and not register completing objectives. If I didnt have to worry about the timer than I can just play it like normal and not break it.

Infinite resources work still, as does instant research & unit production. Instant construction does not work properly - the building is instantly destroyed (think deleted) after being instantly built. Have not tried the others.

This cheat code spawns a "Cobra Car" at your Town Center. The Cobra Car is a powerful unit that can only be obtained via cheats. It has 500 HP, rapidly firing explosive ammo, but have a tendency for friendly fire.

This cheat spawns the "Saboteur" unit at your Town Center. The Saboteur is only available via this cheat code, and has the same looks as the Petard unit. Whilst it still has the Petard unit's explosive and self-destructive tendencies, it is more powerful, and has a blast radius 5x the size of Petard's.

NOTE: The effect of this cheat code can't be reversed, save your game before using it if you wish to switch back. This cheat will put you in control of the "Nature Civilization", which all animals, etc belong to - allowing you to control animals and other parts of nature. As this switches your civilization to nature, you are unable to switch back to your original civilization.

This cheat code spawns a "Villager Male Dave Lewis", or VMDL for short, unit at your Town Center. The VMDL unit is only obtainable via cheats, and moves extremely fast. VMDLs have no armor or attack bonus - their insanely fast movement speed makes them good for exploring, but not so much anything else.

This cheat spawns the cheat unit (only obtainable via cheats) "Furious the Money Boy". Furious the Monkey Boy is a powerful unit that looks like a monkey, having 99 armor (both melee and pierce) and a 999 attack bonus against Standard Buildings, making it great for destroying settlements.
