Dear Shital

First if all, wish you and your family a very happy new year. I really appreciate for coming forward and taking initiatives and inviting Pankaj and other friends. We need to do and spread the words. I liked few topics that you gave. I already talk to out few folks in Singapore about defining some problem.

Pankaj

Welcome to the team- we need help and support. Let us put some sincere effort and see Joe it goes. Do you have a contact number?

1986- Batch:
We are looking for assigning some modeling simulation project work- as project or as part if course. Pl think over it. I will follow up separately. Dr Debasis will be the contact person through which we will work.

Srikanta/Betal: pl coordinate the problem and corresponding students. I will forward Shital's mail with problem outlined from Seader's book

Thanks

Jayanta (da)

Dear Pankaj,

Happy new year to You and Sharmishta! I have a request as well as proposal to to get involved in mentoring and supervising our students from CU Chem Eng department. I assume that you already got the email or linkedin update from Jayantada about Pro/II. He is trying to select some topics for BTech and Mtech thesis or design projects. Here I have attached a list of topics. Look at the topics, specifically waste water related topics and join hands with Jyantada. You also have expertise in Photocatalysis and Photocatalytic H2 production. Please propose some project topic for process modeling and simulation. I will support you in process modeling related issue but you need to take care of the topic.

I will discuss with you in details. I also copy this email to Jyanatada. You may directly contact Jayantada.

talk to you soon.

Dear Jayantada,

I am still reviewing the list I sent you. Some of the problems are well structured. Some of them are based on patents. I am not sure about the kinetic data for those problems. However, we can still use those problems using example cases in the patents. We may not be able to use full reactor model in the material and energy balance, but we can use % conversion or similar approach. We may remove the soil pollution, food products related projects.

From my part, I propose few topics as bellow:

1) integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) Process
2) Carbon Capture and Storage(CCS)
3) Methanol or dimethyl ether production from coal or natural gas based synthesis gas
4) Methanol-to-Olefin Process
5) Synthetic fuels: dimethyl ether, methane, Fischer Tropsch process
5) Shell SMPO Process

I have key back ground information on most of these topics. I will later provide problem statements when we are going to assign students.

I try to avoid any poly-olefin related topics because of IPR related issues as my employer is a polyolefin technology provider and producer.

Best regards,

Shital
