    Hi Everyone,

We had a bit of a chat after the fete today.

The thinking was to go see The Hunger Games at Chadstone at 7 pm.

The movie isn’t being formally released until Friday (17 Nov) so this is a pre-release screening.

I figured we’d need to book ahead and so the plan was that you’d e-mail me to say if you were coming and I’d pre-book the tickets.

However, I’ve just checked the Hoyts website and they are marketing this as a “Girls Night Out” and the XtremeScreen session I was looking at (Chadstone 7 pm) had a glass of white wine/champagne included and the tickets were $35 each.

I’m beginning to think this might not be such a good idea.

Main alternatives were The Marvels (Southland 7 pm VPremium, Chadstone 7:15 pm Standard) and Killers of the Flower Moon (3.5 hours, Southland 6:45 pm Europa).

A few people had mentioned that they hadn’t seen any of the Hunger Games films. We could do a gathering at my place and we’ll put the first Hunger Games film on instead.

What do you think? Is $35 a ticket getting too much? (plus being at a “Girls Night Out” event?)

Is there a preferred alternative? (Marvels, Killers of the Flower Moon, original Hunger Games at 7 Young St Oakleigh, something else?)

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for your diligence and thoughtfulness.

I am actually happy with all options including your kind invitation to your house, and/or being a fly on the wall for a Gitls Night Out.

So I’m happy to support wherever we have most consensus. My friend Steve Duke will likely join us.

I won’t be at church tomorrow but am grateful for the fellowship of today.

We would have to go through Myer entrance or park in the cinema car park.

Most of chadstone is shut down at the moment. So no Grilld. But Nandos is open in lower food court.

      Hi Everyone,

So we are going ahead with the Hunger Games at Chadstone (XtremeScreen, 7:00 pm) on Wednesday 15 November.

I have bought 10 tickets. They are in the 3rd and 4th rows but in two separate blocks, a group of 3 on the left side of the screen and a group of 7 (spread across two rows) on the right side.

At the moment I have 10 confirmed names on my list:

      David Michell

      Steve Duke

      Jeff Gardner

      Richard Palmer

      Peter Thomas

      John Argent

      Paul Argent

      Kelsi Argent

      Phil Nanscawen

      Anthony Tipton

      Confirmed “No” are:

      Graham Bartley

      Mark Thomas

      Martin Wojak

Please let me know if I have forgotten anyone.

The tickets include 1x glass of Wolf Blass Bilyara Sparkling Brut. Drinks will be substituted for 600ml water or soft drink for guests under 18 years, or upon request. I figure we arrive about 6:50 pm. I have the booking confirmation on my phone so I think we will have to enter as a group.

For those coming for dinner, we will give Nandos at Chadstone a try and I suggest we come at 6 pm and leave around 6:40 pm to head up to the cinemas.

The Argents weren’t coming for dinner and I don’t think David and Steve were doing dinner either, so at the moment I’m expecting 5 for dinner: Jeff, Richard, Anthony, Phil and me.

      Summary details

      SOFA Wed 15 November

Movie: The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

      Cinema: Hoyts Chadstone

Session: 7:00 pm XtremeScreen, special event Girls Night Out, complimentary drink with ticket

Meet at entrance at 6:50 pm

Dinner: Nandos Chadstone from 6 pm

      Contact: Peter Thomas 0401 361 391

Tickets were $35 each, plus they charged me a $16.50 booking fee, so I’m requesting reimbursement of $36 each.

      See you on Wednesday evening

      Hi Peter,

Thanks for doing all of the arranging.

Unfortunately Steve advised me yesterday that he would be unable to attend and I was slow to revert to you.

I'll cover the cost of his ticket unless we have any late takers for it.

      See you for 6.50pm tomorrow.

      Hi All,

We now have a spare ticket for Hunger Games tomorrow (Wednesday) night.

      Any takers?

Argents – would Megan be interested and available?

I’ve asked Laura and Sarah and they are either unavailable or not interested.
