I am the happiest permanent resident of Oxford & sharing everything Ole Miss 🏈⚾️🏀🍷

with my wonderful family!

    My Daughter & Son-in-Law are a golf cart ride away, my Granddaughter will be a Sr at Ole Miss & is a proud KD!   My Grandson is a Graduate and now in Co-Pilot training. I’m hoping he will follow me to FedEx, only flying those huge planes instead of riding in the back of the cockpit like I did.

    Can’t wait for the start up of another exciting season of SEC 🏈. Nothing quite like the Grove!

My safety council post was in front of that little store across the train tracks. Coach Fulghum gave me a “gold” safety council belt instead of a white one. He told me it was because I had “double duty!” I had to keep everyone safe crossing Southern St AND crossing the Railroad tracks behind me! I was very proud of my gold belt!

    Coach was always very nice to me all the way thru 9th grade & even thru years later. He & Gene have always been very special to me. 

    A side story I don’t think anyone would remember but me. My first girlfriend was Renee Hawkins in 9th grade. Her Dad was Col Gabe Hawkins, and he was the head of Memphis State’s ROTC program. I got up the courage to buy a necklace at that little grocery store and give it to Renee. She accepted it & wore it &  that made my first crush a reality for me. 

   About a month later Col Hawkins was transferred, they moved….like overnight and I lost my first love! Had to bite the bullet and move on to Messick. Always wondered what became of sweet Renee. I hope she has been as happy as I have been!

Thanks for forwarding Dianne’s message Robert. I have had some great conversations with her Brother, David Dowland who always calls me on my Birthday. They are such a thoughtful pair!

   I am living in Oxford,MS near my Daughter, Ashlea & her husband, Eric. Have two grandkids here… one graduated from Ole Miss last year and is in Pilot Training….hope he flies for my former employer, FedEx. 

    My other will be a Sr at Ole Miss & will get to live in the KD Sorority House this upcoming Sr Yr. It is a huge beautiful white mansion on Sorority Row. 

    I am enjoying retirement and everything Ole Miss Sports wise!

It is a beautiful town & I am in love with the Town Square!

A lot of times with Phil Aquino who lived on Buck Street.

  Thank you Gene! I will never forget how nice you and your Dad were to me. I remember one afternoon after 🏈 practice your Dad took us to a Country Club out Germantown way off Poplar. We sat up on a balcony and had lunch overlooking the golf course. That was my first glimpse of just how dedicated he was to teaching as well as coaching. He could obviously have chosen another career alternative but he loved working with students at Training School!

David, Happy Birthday!!!

My sisters and I worked for Coach Fulghum at Ridgeway Country Club in their Day Camp program. He was the Pool Manager and Swim Instructor among other duties. My sister, Colleen, and I had the 5 year old Girls and Boys respectively. Coach had quite a technique for getting those beginners swimming! Love the man! Elizabeth found her future husband there.

He never took me to lunch, though.
