Hey Pack 14. Here is all the information you need for the show and sells this weekend. This email will be a bit long, so please read to the end.

First of all, a parent must be with their scout(s) at all times during the show and sell. BSA policy will not allow for a scout to be dropped off and picked back up. Show and sells are not drop off events. If you have more than one scout at a show and sell, only one parent is needed. 2 parents are great, but we have to have at least 1 parent.

Also, BSA policy is that scouts are in Class A uniforms.

For this pack, that is belt, shirt, neckerchief and slide, and hat. Shirts need to be tucked in.

Here is how your scouts are credited for their sales. We have tried in years past to only credit each boy with the sales they individually generated. That worked ok, but a former parent suggested that we play to each scouts strengths. All of our show and sell events are at retail establishments, most of those being grocery stores. Some boys are natural sellers. And who can resist a Tiger in uniform? Some boys do not do very well in this environment.

So we try to identify the boys that are good sellers and let them approach people. Other boys we set aside to help people who are leaving take their baskets to the car, and return them to the store. Other scouts are sent (with parental supervision) to the sidewalk with signs to try to drive traffic into the store we are selling at. We have had much more success with this model. It allows the boys to "do their best". The sales generated in a particular time block are divided up among the boys that worked during that time. We make every effort to spread that as equally as possible. The sales per time block do vary. Some times are busy and others are not.

These sales do count on your scouts sales sheet. I will try to get you sales reports for your scout as soon as possible.

The information on this report should transfer to a popcorn sales sheet to track your scouts total sales. The great thing about show and sells is that once the transaction happens, it’s done. We have product on hand to give them.

There is no delivery for show and sells. This is also a great way for new scouts to get their feet wet with selling popcorn. They feed off of each other’s energy and it pumps them up to go sell door to door. And gaging the reaction from last night about tossing a whipped cream pie in the Popcorn Kernel’s face for every boy that hits $600 in sales, they are pretty motivated. The show and sell events will help them get over any nervousness they have about selling popcorn.

This Saturday, there are 2 show and sells. One at Encores and More, which is a massive consignment sale in Franklin.

The address is:

USBA Sports Complex

1850 Gen. George Patton Drive

This show and sell goes from 8 am to 5 pm. Parking will be an issue. I will be going to check this place out tomorrow, and hopefully come up with a parking plan.

The other location is:

Kroger

4700 Traders Way

Thompson's Station, TN 37179

We have been to this Kroger in the past, and it usually has generated solid sales.

If you have not signed up for a show and sell, but want to, please email me. I need your name, your scouts name, the location, and what shift, or shifts you want to work. If you have already signed up, I have your information. I also need to know if you are coming by Thursday night. Again, if you have already signed up, I have your info. You do not need to email me again.

Here are the times that are available, and the number of scouts in each time block we can take:
