COMING SOON TO A TRACK NEAR YOU! DON"T WAIT 'TIL THE LAST MINUTE
2012 CUB PACK 14 PINEWOOD DERBY!

MARCH 26, 2012 (this is a little later than last year, but don’t wait too late to get started!)

Christ Community Fellowship Hall

Hey everyone. It is time to start preparing for our annual Pinewood Derby race. All scouts should have received their car kits at the Christmas banquet in December. If you did not, there should be some at the next pack meeting. Siblings and parents wanting to race can purchase one from the pack for $5. Cars will be available at the pack meeting tonight and following weeks until we are out.  (If we do run out you can pick one up at the Green Hills or Murfreesboro scout store). ONLY BSA CAR KITS AND PARTS (block, nails, wheels, etc…) ARE ALLOWED. Below are all the links to official rules.  More e-mails will follow as we get closer. PARENTS - we would love to have more parents racing this year. It is a lot of fun and I am sure your son would love to give you some professional advice.

Remember that the Pack 14 Pinewood Derby is approaching. We will race on Monday, March 26. We will have scales at the March 19 meeting so you can check the weight of your cars early. Try to have your cars close to done by March 19 so you don't have to make many adjustments the last week.

If you have not started working on your cars, there is still plenty of time but don't let it sneak up on you. Hopefully everyone is at least in the "thinking of a design" stage. Let the boys make this car with your assistance. It is very important that the boys contribute based on their age especially with tools. (Tigers may need more help and Webs less). This is a parent-child project. Make the most of this opportunity to spend time with your child but let this be their car.

We also have a parent/alumni race that we want any parent and "graduated" cub to take part in. This is the opportunity to make your own car while the boys are working on theirs. We need more parent participation in this race than we have had lately. There will be a prize for the winner not to mention the bragging rights for a year.

All of the details for the scout race, sibling race and parent race are listed below in the e-mail I sent out previously. Pay attention We hope to see the web 2's that cross over soon to come back and participate with the other "graduated" cub scouts and parents.

Read everything below for all the rules and regulations and you can contact me if you have any questions. Also check with your den leaders to see if any plans are being made for your den to work on cars together at any time before the race.

Let's get ready for another great race!

CUB PACK 14 PARENTS - Remember that we will have scales there tonight so you can test the weight of your car. They will be set up in the hallway on the counter. I know some of the dens will be working on cars tonight in their meetings again. Tiger parents, even though you are not meeting tonight, feel free to drop in to weigh your car. You can also take your car anytime to the UPS store and they will be happy to weigh it for you. Don't forget to weigh your car with wheels and axles. Remember the limit is 5.0 ounces for scouts and siblings. Parents and alumni cars is 10.0 ounces. Remember the official weigh in is not until next week.

NEXT WEEK, MARCH 26 - We will start weighing cars at 5:30. Try to arrive by 5:45. We must have all cars checked in before 6:15.
Make sure there is nothing loose on your car that could fall off on the track. All weight should be secure.

Let me know if you have questions.
