Hello all,

I sucessfully installed linaro lubuntu on my cubieboard2. My focus changed and I want to switch back to android. The provided images are LiveSuit images that can not be used with DD (That is what I read). So what is the easiest way to install Android again?

If it's a livesuit image, you will be installing it to the NAND flash using the livesuit/phoenixsuit tool and

Here are some links that may help:

Hope that helps.

Hello John,

thanks for your answer but that does not work. LiveSuit/Phoenixsuit rely on the debug mode of Android and therefore I need Android to run on cubieboard. I don't know the technical background but I assume that in debug mode an ADB Server is running on the android device . Without ADB server and debug mode, livesuit will never recognize the cubieboard.

regards,

Michael

You should be able to put the Cubie into "FEL" mode by holding down the FEL button (under the OTG port) while plugging in the mini-usb cable.  At that point, the board is in FEL mode, which doesn't require Android at all (it's part of the on-chip bootloader, not stored in nand).  LiveSuit can then program the board.

As Patrick mentioned, there is no ADB/Android install required to do this.  Hold down the FEL button beneath the OTG port as you plugin the mini-usb cable (the video tutorial shows this).

Finally it worked. I was wrong. ADB is not required. It was my fault because I didn't understand how Livesuit tworks. Maybe others are confused as well so I explain what went wrong:

When entering the FEL Mode, Livesuit asks whether the device should be formatted or not as soon the device is connected to the PC. If you select YES Livesuit is immediatly flashing the image that was selected before (So it flashes the image under the path that is shown on the firmware Tab), no matter when the image was selected (Livesuit remembers the formerly selected image, even after livesuit was closed and started another day). So make sure, you select the correct image FIRST and AFTERWARDS enter the FEL mode or connect the device to PC. I assumed that I could enter the FEL mode and then select the image to flash...

Thanks for your help.
