I haven't used my Cubex Duo for about 1/2 year. I fired it up yesterday and discovered that the software no longer reads USB drives. To be more accurate, the LED on the USB drive lights up and blinks perpetually, but when I try to select a file, I see "0 of 0". I tried .bfb and .cubex file extensions and I tried multiple USB drives.

There isn't a lot on the USB board and the cable looks good. I'm thinking that the motherboard isn't working correctly. I see a single red LED lit on the board. Anything I missed?

I'm thinking that I will need to repair the motherboard. Is anyone still offering board repair?

Thanks.

Check The boot loader system Hold the reset button down and tun on the power. See if it will go into boot loader mode
If you can get it to boot loader re load the operating system. That will tell you a few things. Also unplug the ribbon cables and plug them back in again   could just be slight dirty connector from time not used .
does not sound like its broken, just dirty.

Rodney,

I agree that it sounds like a dirty contact. I had already pulled the cables and cycled power. No joy. So, I have tried the following:

1. Reset the power by unplugging for 30 seconds and reapplying power.

2. Check the boot loader: I can access the boot loader from the menu and by holding the Power button down while applying power.

3. Firmware updates OK and activation is successful.

4. Pulled and reinserted cables several times.

5. Checked the USB board for problems and cleaned contacts.

6. Tried to access a file from multiple USB sticks.

I still see "File 0 of 0" on the print menu. Anything else to try?

How big are those USB drives?
Are they formatted as FAT partitions?

one quick question?  have you created a folder on the drive and put the files in there. I guess not but just asking.
I have been thinking about this all i can say it cannot be much because all the other test have pasted ok.
There some more complex faults that i have never seen but could occur. this would be very rare.  there is a small IC that controls the USB on the go as they call it . The USB master slave IC
Most devices that have USB us one it sits on the MB just above the 12 volt regulator. Looks like a 5 pin SMD transistor. I am only quoting from memory i will look it up in the morning.
can you use a multimeter  and do you have one.  But as i said this is worst case fault and very unusual.

I've used the same flash drives for a long time. I reformatted them before the last print job and forgot to format for FAT32. I should have caught that. I know better. I had a stroke back in November and my cognitive abilities have declined somewhat.

Thanks for your patience. Now I have to go back and recalibrate everything. I forgot to record the settings before I reflashed the firmware.

Again, thanks.
