Hi everybody,

We have a CubeX duo.

Currently we have gray ABS in jet 1 and red PLA in jet 2.

ABS has been cleaning every time over the wiper blade. PLA has been inconsistent.

I have adjusted the wiper stick so that it is 1mm above the bottom of print jet 1. With the OFFSET and then WIPE settings in the printer menu, we have it so that the stick makes contact with the wiper blade instead of being set 1mm behind as stated by Cubify. We even put the wiper stick in our lathe and machined off the chamfer so it is a corner to ensure contact with the purged material. Our ABS makes a clean purge pile on the wiper whereas the PLA will sometimes make a clean pile, but also makes an abstract squiggle of a deposit and often hangs over the wiper blade and does not fall off when making contact with the wiper stick.

PROBLEM 1: After setting the WIPE offset for the wiper stick to make contact with the blade and purged material, this causes the the print jets are then to touch the wiper blade while heating and are slowly burning notches in it. The PLA still does not drop off after the wiper stick makes contact with it and then it sticks to the print jet while switching materials. The excess chunks then tend to fall off while the print jet is over the print bed. They becomes lodged and then continues to be run over by the print jets and a large bump forms and the print fails.

What is the most EFFECTIVE setting for the offset and height of the wiper stick? WHY isn't the PLA depositing the same type of pile as the ABS?

PROBLEM 2: While running parts in ABS with PLA support at 0.1mm layer thickness and medium part density, at part with a ~0.125'' sidewall keeps growing higher than anticipated. In other words, the inside and outside perimeters are created and then where the zig-zag supports inside are to be printed, there seems to be not enough room, and it essentially fills the part. When this happens, the plastic cools and hardens, but cools UPWARDS and as time proceeds, the actual print is growing ahead of the z-height of the layer being printed and the wiper stick keeps smacking into it. We recently had a 17 hour build that was destroyed and the bolt holding the wiper stick BENT.

Will KISSslicer help with this at all? I'm new to this forum and recently read up on it. Also, is anybody else having problems like this?

HELP! Please let me know if there are any solutions to this.

Thank you very much,

Richard

I avoid multi-color prints.
I sometimes get wipes that don't always wipe into the bin.
I try to watch the purge and "trap" trailing filament if the wipe fails.
I hold a screwdriver in the purge bin and trap the line of filament when the wipe fails.
You can tell immediately after the head travels over the wiper bar if the line of filament didn't get pinched off.
I then use the screwdriver to keep the purged line of filament trapped in the bin and the wiper pulls the rest off as it travels to the start line.
Most of my prints are single color / material so I only have to do this for the first layer.

I have a single head and have had this issue with pla every now and then.
Kisslicer is very good. It wipes more consistently, and gives a better print often too. I don't have a dual head, but I think it is worth a try.
