Cant get my PC to recognize the printer to install firmware update

Hi, 

I've tried everything to install the firmware update 1.08. 

When plugging the usb cable to the PC I get an error message saying that the driver was not installed properly. 

Then, when clicking on Firmware Update on the Cubex software it says 

"Boot loader not detected"

Same problem occurs with Windows xp and Windows 7

Anyone having the same problem?

I am having the same problem as well. Does anyone know if the USB cable that came with the Cubex is a special kind of cable? I'm having to use one that I've bought separately (because I'm pretty sure that mine didn't ship with one) and I hope that the cable isn't the problem. I've tried restarting my computer and that didn't work. I tried plugging the cable in before and after starting the Cubex software, which neither worked. Anyone have any other ideas?

hi everyone. having this same issue with our cubexduo. tried 3 different pcs with no luck. some people elsewhere on this forum seem to suggest this magically fixes itself. until that happens i'm wondering if anyone has any other suggestions. i've made sure only 1 usb device is plugged in at a time, have the latest cubex software, all windows 7 updates installed...

You should be able to update the firmware by following the steps below:

Before going through the update process, please unplug your Cube X and close the Cube X software on your PC.

Next, connect the Cube X to your computer using the USB cable. You should then be able to power your Cube X back on in boot loader (to help avoid some of the more tedious steps) by holding the control button on the front of the machine and plugging the power cord back into the Cube X. This should allow your computer to recognize the Cube X as a new USB device.

You should then be able to complete the update by clicking "Settings" and then clicking "Firmware Update". After the process finishes, you can unplug your Cube X and restart it.

If you encounter any issues updating your firmware with the above procedure, please let us know.

It's important to note that following the steps above will require you to enter the 4 digit activation code for your Cube X again after the firmware update process has been completed.

This is an email reply from a Cubex tech.  I was having the same problem and these steps worked for me.  I did not, however, need to re-enter my 4 digit activation code.  I'm up and back printing.  Hope this helps.

Boot loader not detected is a common error. This means your computer is not recognizing the printer. To resolve this:

1) Leave the Printer connected to the computer through the USB cable. close out of all software.

2) Once all software is closed, restart the computer

3) Once the computer reboots, reopen the software ( your computer should now recognize the printer)

4) Follow steps on updating firmware

make sure you power cycle the printer first, and hold down the button to boot directly into the bootloader.

This email reply from the Cubex Tech worked for me.  I was terrified to unplug my Printer while it was in Boot Loader mode.  But it worked.  Got updated to 1.07. Thanks so much!
