I've been debating on whether i should start this new thread or not. I am trying to find as much information as I possibly can to do this conversion. I am quite new when it comes to electronics as I am a mechanical guy but I am sure I want to tackle this. And might even be successful with a bit of help.

So I have a single extruder Cubex, and after reading as much stuff as I could find I am planning on starting with a few things:
-Arduino 2560
-12864 LCD
-RAMPS 1.4
-heated pcb

What else do I need to get in terms of electronics? Also if I was going to add another extruder, what else do I need besides the extruder itself. Are e3d ones good? any that are decent for a cheaper price?

And in terms of firmware, is marlin the one to go with?

Any help is appreciated.

I understand that this may be a longer project that initially thought. But after my cubex breaking within a week of getting it, I dont have much choice.

Ioan,

You have to request membership to have access to this forum, but there's very knowledgeable people that have already done what your asking.  Specifically look in the "Modified Cubex" post under the section called "3Dsystems: Cubex, Cubepro etc"

Hopefully this will get you on the right track.
