It completely threw off my Z axis gap. Without touching it.. the Printer was jetting at very high significant z gap (5 mm) making the material not stick and making a big mess. When I adjust the Z Gap it seemed find so i did not adjust it. I send it to print again thinking that it was bug and then the Jet started to hit the bed. I stopped the print to prevent damage. I started playing with the Z Gap to give it more room although it seem like the previous setting was correct(it seem like it didn't remember the Z Gap setting).
After repeating this process 4 to 6 times to try to adjust the Z gap not by the Z GAP Menu but by the way it printed i finally got to it print with OK accuracy but the object lifted from the bed due to bad gluing.
I set it to print again and the Jet rammed into the Bed again causing some damage. I cancel the print and the press home and the Header moved along the X Axis and it hit the side of the printer making a very loud noise.
It seem like the printer lost its X Max and Y Max. I haven't called the company yet but I will tomorrow morning. Just wondering if anyone ran into this problem.
BTW Today I downloaded an update from Cubify.com
Anyone experiencing something similar?
Thank
1. Unplug printer
2. Manually lower the print bed by turning threaded z axis rod until the bed is several inches from the print head.
3. Physically move the carriage to the center of the machine
4. Inspect print head for damage, If ok, proceed. If damaged stop here and contact support.
5. Connect the USB cord to your printer and computer as if you were going to update the firmware
6. Hold the button marked "+" and simultaneously plug in the printer (you may need help)
7. On your computer, open Cubify software and update the firmware to your preferred version and wait for update to complete (this resets all 3 axis stops)
8. Unplug printer
9. Unplug USB cord from printer
10. Wait 10 seconds
11. Plug printer in and enter activation code.
12. Use touch screen to home carriage.
13. Set z-gap
How ever I still have my original problem of the Head's crashing into the bed. I have noticed that if I adjust the z gap and I print without removing the bed (For Gluing) it retains its Z-gap setting. If I remove the bed to put glue and put it back on then the Head rams into the bed. Extremely weird!!! I have also noticed that since this last incident my print quality has decrease dramatically. I am going to re-level but I suspect my head's are damage. (What should I look for when looking for a damage head?)
Thank you for your advise
Do I need to buy a "Relocating Z sensor" kit or is it possible to just attach it some where else?
I got the relocating sensor kit with my heated pad and my advice is don't use the magnet that comes with the kit. mine was way to powerful. it caused havoc with all the other sensors. I replaced it with a very small magnet from a nick-knack from the refrigerator. Works well now. I also had to trick it when setting "z" the first time by lowering the bed all the way down, hitting the SET "Z" then waving my free magnet near the sensor as the plate was going up. This made the unit think it was at home much early. and not cash into the top. Once it stopped I could raise the bed to the head safely to set "z", once saved, it went home normal.
Happy Printing
