I want to try out the Spark Pixels phone app and when I run it, I get the following message:

No devices running the Spark Pixels firmware.  Go to

If I do this, does this mean I would have to flash the original firmware if I wanted to go back to a Viz in the gallery?

Would I use the CubeDoctor to do this?

Sorry if I am asking basic questions ... but I am new to IOT and the L3Dcube and have not been able to find some of this stuff elsewhere.

The way I have gotten around that error in the past is to re-flash the Photon from the particle app loading Tinker back on it and then re-load the Spark Pixels V3 app back onto your photon.  Unplug your cube and plug it back in and let it connect to the network then fire up your Spark Pixels app on your android device.  I have had this happen a few times in the past and that has resolved it.

I have not tried the CubeDoctor so not sure it that will resolve the issue.

Hope this helps...

Hi Randy,
not sure where you are running the app. but if you have a windows machine or MAC you can also run an android emulator called ANDY, just google it if you want to do that. You then run ANDY and load the spark app as normal from the google store. I have had this problem with the emulator and as John says reloading seems to work but in this case running the emulator I have found best to deinstall the app., shutdown the emulator , restart the emulator , reinstall the app and reflash the cube does the trick...only happens sporadically /T

Randy,

You have tried running the phone app without having flashed the Spark Pixels viz to your cube first.
Please note that the whole "Spark Pixels experience" (if you wanna see it that way) is comprised of 2 parts: the android app (Spark Pixels) and the viz (Spark Pixels v3).
So when you flash the viz into your cube it will be able to talk back to the phone app and you will be in control.

If you wanna experiment with other viz'es in the gallery, you do not need to go back to the original demo neither load Tinker. Just go to the gallery, and pick any one viz you wanna try out and hit "Send to Cube" straight away.
