One of the recommendations/suggestions I read at places is that one should not send old metrics.
Why is it so if I can provide a timestamp with my metrics?

Can someone explain if there is something i m failing to see.?

I'm not 100% on this but I think the rationale is not to overwhelm the database with out-of-order events, because indexes need to be rebuilt and summary metrics need to be invalidated and recomputed.

But try it and benchmark it and see if it works for you. The "should not" is a recommendation and not a requirement ("must not"), I think?

Tom.
