I still get emails from austin hacker space even though never joined,
and saw this mentioned today because its originator, Terence Tam, is planning a desktop SLA machine
based on a DLP for < $1000 using the resin from the $2700 b9creator:

http://blog.openbeamusa.com/

talks about delivering trebuchet kickstarter premiums, giving his distributors
as much profit as him, coexisting with another beam supplier http://www.microrax.com.

Seems like keeping prices low enough and savvy selling (sell the app more than the building block),
is key in OSHW

Hi John!
I read your email a while back but started reading related stuff and forgot to follow up then and a few additional times...;-)

This is some very cool stuff all 'round!!
biz strategy, cool tech and all, I looked at this Kickstarter a few times, but sort of discounted it because it seemed like makerbeam part II
but this looks like a serious and continuing effort

got stalled by lack of money on the printer, but just got paid from a contract job and will be trying to wrap up the last mechanical details this week or next...

Thanks for the info
stay in touch and check on the website off and on - should take a leap forward in the next couple weeks also..
