Thanks to Bruce Wattendorf I now have an Ultimaker Motherboard!!!

Woot!

This week and next - I'll be trying to get the boards components together, get it soldered, up and running
Also, the BeagleBoard/ROS-->GRBL on Arduino chain is partially together, the Smoothie will probably have to wait a bit...

there are some good links in the Wiki, but I'll be adding more! :-)

Looks like a busy week ahead if yesterday and today are any indication!! but I'll post back to this thread as progress is made

James,
I will have a digikey parts list for you in the next few hours I hope.

Also I am thinking about making a Ultimaker cube spawn but want to make the bearings mounts and stepper mounts so that
we would be able to use the same mounts on all of the rods and all of the bearings Any thoughts?

James,

Here is a copy of an order a friend of mine made that has the parts you will need including the arduino mega (which you can find on ebay for a lot less).

Also there was one part we did not order and it was some of the connectors for the WM4301-ND and crimp pins

you only need one for a ultimaker but the board has 3 one for an extra extruder and one for a heated build platform.

housing WM2877-ND 3 ea.
pins WM2573CT-ND 9 ea.

Good luck

And as always feel free to ask any questions

I used large 90 deg angle aluminum for the 3 motor mounts and a universal bearing mount for the rod ends the bearing mount for the sliding bushings is just a block with one drilled hole and the other one drilled and reamed for a press fit on the bushings they are in this sketchup model and these pictures

I have not yet done any cad for this, but I'll put together the dimensions I used.

I just noticed the model shows a "short" version of the blocks I tried out using some bushings I had on hand,

I have since ordered 1 1/4 long bushings....

for those that don't(like/use) sketchup I'm adding a few conceptual images to the picasa photos of the CubeSpawn Ultimaker module

and the general album is

Sent this to Bruce as email, re-sending it here...

After some fuddled ordering, (I missed a couple parts!) and the holidy swirl, everything is here to put the Ultimaker board together.
for reference for the obvious stuff (connectors and so forth) but I'm not clear on the correct resistor values,

the diodes, caps, connectors and even the LEDs weren't difficult to place, but I can't be certain of the resistor values from the picture, I presume there is a better assembly guide, I just haven't found it yet... ;-)

any help or guidance appreciated,

James

I use the parts list to make sure the values are correct.
I can also go back and forth on email with any parts you might have questions on.

I must admit, I wasn't very clever about searching for diagrams or parts list - but on your tip I know have it:
So everything is soldered, now for the driver boards: do you have a preference?

then, figger the software and hook everything up!!

getting to the Bone/PI-->arduino/GRBL/Smoothie-->motors is still a small ways off, but its getting closer... ;-)

I use the stock pololu driver boards they seem to work the best for me I would get them form Ultimachine with the heat sinks and also use a fan on the drivers you can get more amps out for the steppers also make sure you have at least 45 oz torque steppers..

As mentioned in the epiphany thread, I received all the drivers and parts for the Ultimaker board - it is completely assembled.
putting ends on the Steppers to plug them in and test.

I'll be using Cura to create and feed G code to the board - I don't have the thermocouple yet so I get a MIN_Temp error from the board on start-up but it seems to be ok so far
