Havana, August 14 (acn) Brigades of the Cuban Electric Union (UNE) are installing modern electricity meters are being installed in Cuban houses and businesses whose consumption does not exceed 50 kwh. With 3.5 million clients, UNE will guarantee the instalment, free of charge, of 1.5 million electric meters before 2008. More complex equipment are being supplied to industries, hotels, and other facilities whose consumption exceeds 50 Kwh.

In statements to ACN, UNE commercial manager Ramon Lopez Ramos said this 6.5-million dollar investment is part of a program to improve the measurement of electrical energy supplied to the residential sector and business, as part of the Energy Revolution under way in Cuba.

The China-made devices have a high quality and are very reliable, with no mechanical parts.
